In survival i will after some time (around 4-5 hours on my computer) start loosing sprite on some mobs, then new stuff i build, then new buildings. After maybee 5-10 minutes at this point the game crash. I have try to lower mobs spawn, or the number of mobs, but for what i could have check it doesn't matter => the game seem to crash at almost the same time.
I have try in skirmich against dark elf and astalans only, and it had crash after around 6 hours a few moment after astalan took some spell that send a lot of sprites (cold magic especialy). But i think it was at the time i fight against cristal golem that the game have start going on the crash mode.
I have try with and without any compagnon, and it don't seem to matter. Online or offline don't seem to have effect too.
I've just have done another game with aurora againt the undeads and crepusculum and all was fine until i was in the gold age, maybee a new item, stuff, spell in this age have a problem ?
i really don't know yet what is the cause of this big problem. I will continue to test on my own ...
Anyhow i'm almost sure that the loading problem from savegames, could help catch the bug, because it's possible to load game you have saved until you have some problem on your game. At this point if you save and try to reload the game go on an infinite loading.
I will send you a save that seem corrupt, to your email, in hope it could help you see what is the problem.
Bon réveillon et joyeux noël quand même !
my last test was on a survival game with a setting of 1600 monsters on map : all was fine with no visible problem (like disapearing sprite or so) until the number of monsters was over 1600. I think i was at around 1550 monsters spawned and i reduce their numbers to around 1250 mobs before the timer tick to the next wave => at the exact moment the next wave spawned and send the total number of monsters to 1699 the game start being very "laggy" and crashed 10 second later.
Another thing is that when i reload the auto save, the total number of mobs and the wave number are reset to 0 on the hud, even if the waves are still send at the right time and all mobs are at their right position on the map. But even if i have already at least 1600 mobs spawned the game still continue to create new mobs each waves.
I send you this save too to help see the problem.
The good news is, you never really lose any progress from a crash, as all game data is saved in real time.
And pretty much this. You can watch the resources. My rig is far more powerful than yours, yet nothing is spiking up or anything when the crashes occur. It's something breaking in the game after some condition is met.
EDIT: btw, are there output logs generated by the game that I can be giving the developer to help hunt these crashes down?
I do think it's worth noting that I've had a 7 hour session on....10? (Shadowgate mission) without crashing. So if I had to guess, it's something about the gold age. But that's based on my anecdotal evidence.
