Similarly, I would happily buy a PvE expansion to Faeria every month, but almost all games revolve around PvP content first. Or multi-platform shenanigans, so no new content for ages.
So I agree 100%, more single player content please. Hope for that is the only reason I still have the game installed.
I do still hope that they add some more single player DLC content in Faeria. Maybe I've just been playing too much, but I sort of lost interest in Faeria somewhat since unlocking all of the cards.
The different modes (oversky, dragon's lair, world bosses) are cool, but a lot of them force you to do a very specific deck. I'd like some where I could build whatever deck I wanted like in PvP, but wasn't too easy like the mission battles.
This is the new game by the developers of Faeria. It's really cool that they added a lot of the creatures, items, lore, etc. from Faeria. Hopefully it's more than just 'fan service' tho

Which PvE card games would you recommend? I'm also really into the genre but sadly there aren't many single player card games.
The thing is, I dislike roguelike games very much usually, so we might not have the same taste there. If you love those kinds of games, there are dozens of very popular PvE card games. I hate them, so my choices are very limited.
I can tell you that HEX: Shards of Fate is my favorite game of all time (dead game now, so be very careful, I don't even know if you can still play it, might have shut the servers down). It was a Magic: The Gathering clone with cards that had equipment, a map to traverse, mercenaries with unique abilities, all with insanely good graphical design and deep lore. It was heaven... while it lasted. I very much hate the developers for letting it die.
Another of my favorites is Card Hunter. You have characters whose equipment make the deck, as in every piece of equipment puts certain cards into your deck, which you then have to draw and play during the battles. For example, you can have a good shield that puts 3 parry cards into your deck. That sort of thing. It is also a tactical game, as in you move on a board against enemies and use your cards. One of my favorite games ever. Super fun with friends to co-op.
Gloomhaven is probably the one that I am most hopeful about right now, but it does not have the campaign yet, which is supposed to be amazing. Battles are really tactical though, and you can co-op the whole thing as well. It already has a very robust Guildmaster mode, AKA sandbox mode, so you can try everything and it even has some story and progression to it. I am personally waiting for the full campaign before I go all in.
The Lord of the Rings: Action Card Game is also very fun, but I am a bit worried about the development of that game. Very slow pace of content. Maybe a semi-dead game at this point. Very enjoyable single player PvE game though, worth to finish the campaigns at least once. Cool immersion too with the narration.
Maybe check out The Witcher PvE card game as well. Not the online one, there is a single player PvE game, but the battles are all math and numbers, which I didn't enjoy at all. For the life of me I cannot remember the name right now.
And that's pretty much it. I don't like Slay the Spire, Monster Train etc. which are roguelikes, but you have a ton of those to choose from if you like that genre. I need my games to have progression, and collection I get to keep and advance, which is the problem most of the time. Everything is just roguelike nowadays. Ugh.
Hope that helps even a little bit!
Thanks a lot for your detailed answer. I am also not a huge fan of the roguelike deck-builders, they just don't scratch that itch for me. Nice to see someone with a similar taste :). I will be checking out Gloomhaven for sure.
I played the Roguebook demo/early access version last night. It seems relatively balanced for a roguelike, but that's not saying much as I'm not a huge fan of roguelikes. I'm less interested in Slay the Spire now. I do enjoy Pandora mode in Faeria quite a bit though (which is sort of like a roguelike).
In some ways it just made me want to play Faeria again or play an actual RPG card game with more progression. I'd also like a card game like King's Bounty where it's more strategy, but you have a hero that you upgrade stats like an RPG.
One other game I heard people recommend a lot is Trials of Fire. Haven't played it myself or looked into it too closely, but Steam reviews are pretty positive.

I absolutely love Faeria's Pandora mode. I could play that forever, IF I got new expansions (more cards) regularly. I have just played that too much, and all the cards and strategies are too familiar. It might still be the only free "card draft" game out there. Well, not including Forge I guess, which I adore (MtG single player with all the cards, what's not to love).
Roguebook is on my wishlist as well. I will check it out at some point, although I do not have very high hopes. Has to be done, however, because cards.
By the way, this has nothing to do with card games, but in the off chance you have similar, very specific preferences than I do (games where you collect something and painstakingly manage, tweak and optimize them, while having progression and lots of choice), check out Digimon: Cyber Sleuth. Yeah, I know, sounds weird, but it scratches a very particular itch of mine very effectively. You have a huge collection of "squad members" that you can freely tinker and level as you choose. The story is almost irrelevant, it's all about trying to collect everything and test everything in battle for me. Very fun, as you don't even know what you get before you get new digimon. Anyway, just a thought. Creature battlers are one of my other major weaknesses. I have hundreds of hours in Disgaea for example. I LOVE to micromanage things. Card games, turn-based tactics and RPGs for me, thank you.
Aaaand time to go research Trials of Fire.
I have a recommendation as well, which differs from the ones on your list, but since you recommended Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth, maybe you'll like it: Super Dragon Ball Heroes World Mission.
It's a game that really shouldn't exist, but it does, as it's a port and "complete edition" of a long-running Japan-only arcade game, Dragon Ball Heroes. It contains 9 (!) years worth of content, making it accessible in a no-strings-attached full game. Without exaggeration: You could play it for years (depending on your progression speed, of course).
Yes, the graphics are nothing special and some might find the character models subpar, but I find them adequate and they really shouldn't prevent one from enjoying all the other aspects of a game.
But your enjoyment *will* be very much enhanced if you're familiar with the Dragon Ball series, as the entire game is fanservice galore, containing lots of "what if" scenarios and characters.
Again, it's one of those games that I can't believe exist, as companies tend to just shut down arcade and card games, since they made their money and probably don't want to set a precedent - after all, one could just wait for such a version and not spend any money in the arcades. But it does.

Hey, thanks a lot for the suggestion! Had to go do research immediately. I love that it's a card-based game, but there are a few things that repel me effectively. I don't mind at all that it's a Dragon Ball game (not too familiar with the anime, maybe watched two episodes), but I strongly dislike the art style in general and the action oriented over-the-top animations when you do anything. In addition, it's a line battler, which is never something I can fully enjoy. It is possible, but they need to be extra special. Basically everything else would need to be near perfect.
I also dislike games that have any kind of quick-timey mechanics, where you need to use timing in the heat of battle. I love Final Fantasy X, but the "click at the right time for extra damage" was always annoying to me. Just one of my weird quirks and preferences. It is probably easy to see at this point why I have a hard time finding games I actually stick with. :P
Fun fact (gotta throw in those counter suggestions), Avernum series is one of my all time favorites. Just proper old school RPG with no time pressure, turn-based battles, huge world and great world-building and immersion. Mediocre graphics though, but I don't care. The depth is insane. Oh yeah, another one would be World of Final Fantasy, but would help if you are a fan of the franchise. Kinda the same thing as with Dragon Ball, lots of fan service. But oh is it fun to collect monsters to fight for you and level them up how you choose. The way you level up creatures is also a very interesting, multi-level cube thingy with many possible paths.
To sum it all up, I might keep an eye out for a sale on this Dragon Ball game, but it would all depend how fun it is to collect things in it (and how much there is to collect), as the actual battle mechanics are a bit off-putting. I do play some games just for the micro management of cards/decks, so I think I will do some more research on this game when I have more time. The first impression was not awesome though.
I really appreciate the suggestion though! I love to research potential new addicting games.
World of Final Fantasy: It's one of those games that I have in my backlog, but who knows when I'll ever get to it. Definitely wanted to play all the mainline Final Fantasy games first.
Lastly, I think you should just give the Demo of Super Dragon Ball Heroes World Mission a try, it's free after all and then you can definitely tell if you like it or not. It's really a one of a kind game though and originally even incorporated real cards that were scanned in the arcades.
Embrace the challenge of a roguelike deckbuilder with unique mechanics from the developers of Faeria and Richard Garfield, creator of Magic: The Gathering™. Build a team of two heroes, unleash powerful combos and defeat the legends of the Roguebook!
Richard Garfield was a designer of Artifact. Don't pre order. Look at Artifact. It's dead.
Exactly. I never pre-order anymore. Learned that the hard way with few games. And I DEFINITELY will never Kickstart a game anymore. Learned that the very hard way with one game. Wait until the final product and preferably a few patches as well. I still haven't started Cyberpunk, although it is very high on my list. Apparently that was a good move as well, as there were some huge patches quite recently.
I am glad to say I dodged the Artifact bullet completely. Never touched the game, as I was already jaded with that monetization method. I kinda new that would be a short-lived game. I am still gonna check out Roguebook though, almost assuredly. I am just very patient with it. Do your homework first, do not fall prey to the hype.

Just LOOK what they promised! As a card game lover, that was going to be heaven. Never trust that studio.
