While i do not have the issues with the windows desktop being terrible when HDR is enable, the colours in GRIP are washed out and HDR is definitely not working.
Redout uses UE4 and has HDR and that works fine so it's a problem with the game.
I have LG B6 + 2080t (latest game ready driver) with display option set at 4:2:2 10bit.
Haha, as chance would have it, I play with the exact same setup!!!
Thanks Codemonkey for looking into it. It's not really high priority in my book but would be a nice to have.
I might also note, that I tried all kinds of combinations with fullscreen, borderless and windowed. Sometimes it would look good untill the loading screen came on.
HDR was also tested and worked in Battlefield V.
Any idea when this is going to be fixed as HDR is still not working as of right now.
Settings needed:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Grip\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.ini
[/script/engine.gameusersettings]
bUseHDRDisplayOutput=True
HDRDisplayOutputNits=1000
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Grip\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.ini
[SystemSettings]
r.HDR.EnableHDROutput=1
r.HDR.Display.OutputDevice=5
r.HDR.UI.CompositeMode=1
r.HDR.Display.ColorGamut=2
Have a play with the OutputDevice and ColorGamut settings to see what works best for you. Docs are here: https://docs.unrealengine.com/en-US/Engine/Rendering/HDRDisplayOutput/index.html
EDIT: Adding r.HDR.UI.Level=2 to Engine.ini [SystemSettings] improves the brightness of the UI
