Shadows and textures acting weird

I found that mainly people with armor would just be completely black, if I walk around them sometimes the textures would come back, how do I fix this?

sounds like a driver bug do you have the most current drivers for your card.

hi these black textures bug was happening to me too. after a few minutes of playing characters clothing would go black and when i made it off the beginning island even the fishermen's homes were black.
heres what i did considering im currently running the latest beta drivers for my gpu amd hd 5770 so the drivers are probalby not the issue
i edited the main executable's header file to use more than 2GB memory. some games will not load properly because they don't have enough memory for whatever reason.
i used CFF Explorer and edited Arcania.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arcania Gothic 4)
- open with CFF explorer (google it or something)
- click on "file header" (3rd tab down for me)
- click on "click here" on the bottom right box (meaning column, characteristics row)
- check the box "app can handle >2gb address space" and press ok
- save or make a backup of the original file just in case

this was taken from FO3 texture modes that required more memory than the game could handle by default so it was necessary to use it in order to exceed the memory limits otherwise you would get pink textures/missing textures but i realized that it can be handy for other games that arent optimized for 64bit as well

Puppymang, "You Da Mang"!!!!!! Thank You very much for posting that fix! Works like a charm for me and REALLY makes a difference with my game experience! I am a gamer who prefers only Swords and magic games because they are the most different from every day life. There is the fantastical element of being able to cast magic and the satisfying element of hand to hand combat. Science fiction is too similar to real life with laser guns = guns with bullets, space ships=air planes etc. That said, I got started with the original Diablo and prefer real time action fantasy like Diablo, Divine Divinity, Gothic, Elder Scrolls, Witcher etc. and I got started with Gothic on Gothic 3 which had a Ton of video glitches initially. I remember that it turned out to be the gothic font creating much of the problems and once that was replaced with another true type font, so many things improved. I was bummed when so many people were complaining about Arcania but as cheap as it was, I decided to give it a try and I am really enjoying it, except for the "shadow people" :-) Now they are gone and it is Wonderful! What I really like about Arcania now over Gothic 3 is how I can effectively cast magic. I found magic Way too cumbersome to use in Gothic 3 and because of it I primarily used a bow and dual weapons. Now I have keys 1,2 and 4 set up as sword, bow and magic respectively with an "in battle" heal at #3. I hit an enemy at a distance with a bow until they are upon me then I switch to lighting to stun them and then to sword for the smack down! There is a strong sense of accomplishment for me when I can execute that flawlessly. Any way, thanks again for the help!

i dont have issues to that extent but the shadows look horrid on ppl's faces. just greenish and blockish.. is there a way to fix this?

you can disable high quality faces. but its not really a fix

By disabling "high detailed face" (my game is in Italian but should be something like that) and also, the below option "reworking" or "re-elaboration" because IMHO it looks better.

I did this and tried to start Arcania but i got a message saying that a security module can't be activated so the game can't run. Any fixes?

better to start a new thread and when asking for help its always best to give as much info as possible like your PC specs and things like that
