Can't launch Gothic 4
Hello guys. Whenever I try to launch Gothic 4 it does nothing. I have tried a couple solutions but none of them work. I use windows 7 32 bit. Have any ideas how to fix this?
Thank you.

Finally got it to work.
This is what I did.
--------------------------
**Uninstalled Arcania, all nvidia physX programs(should be 2-3) and Avast(Takes a while).
**Went to the folder locations and deleted everything for all 3(Used Shift+Delete, dont want it left in the Recycle Bin)
**Then used a registry cleaner(CCleaner) to scan and remove all errors, many came up for the above programs. This step + Restarting made all the diffrence.
**Restart computer
** Download the game again through steam.
** If lucky it will launch on the first go.
** If not change compatability to "Windows XP Service Pack 3"

**** I did not need to install the legacy or additional PhysX from Nvidia's site. I guess if the above failed this is your last hope.

Hope this helps anyone else who still couldnt get to launch after doing everything like I did.

I had the same error about dll data. I just delete Physx from my computer and downloaded Physx from nvidia site. Game now working good. I hope this help.

Using windows 8, have copied over the PhysX files and its still a no go. I've never asked for my money back for any game I've gotten...but I'm starting to wonder.

Windows 8.1 update here: Game didn't launch at first, tried it a couple times and noticed it was 'launching' but only for a few seconds. Disabled Steam ingame and that didn't help.

Launched it in Windows XP Service Pack 3 compatability mode and it launched without issue after that. However, now the problem is anything involving a menu runs like garbage (Inventory, options screen) Whereas the gameplay without menus on max settings runs extremely smoothly at a high framerate. :ftired:

I can *confirm* it's Physx. The game just did this to me and it broke *all* of my newer Physx games (Risen 2 among them).

I had to go in and manually uninstall physx and clean out the remaining drivers, then reinstall physx from nvidia's site.

How can a game be simply left broken on steam? ON STEAM! Do I seriously need to go and torrent the game I BOUGHT so I can play it? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this is a piece of crap. Even then that wont work as I'm sure there are no more living torrents of this game.

It's not steam's issue. The devs of each game need to take care of their products - the issue stems from games being added to Steam via their publishers without really interacting with the original Dev team.

Edit: Also I fixed my framerate issue completely from reading another post on this forum, but I can't remember at all what it was that I did. Pretty sure I just looked up "Bad framerate in menues" or something.

Edit2: removed the custom curser graphic forcing the use of the default windows curser. Turns out the curser uses most of the game's resources lol.

I got it to work. Simply verify your game files. When the verification process is over and you try to run the game again it will automatically download and install Physx. Game works fine.

Windows 7 x64 here. Got it to work by deleting the PhysX and installing it again from Nvidia site.

After that I've copied:
cudart32_41_22.dll and
cudart64_41_22.dll
from PhysX folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common)
to Arcania folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arcania Gothic 4).

No problems after that :)
