This is what I did.
--------------------------
**Uninstalled Arcania, all nvidia physX programs(should be 2-3) and Avast(Takes a while).
**Went to the folder locations and deleted everything for all 3(Used Shift+Delete, dont want it left in the Recycle Bin)
**Then used a registry cleaner(CCleaner) to scan and remove all errors, many came up for the above programs. This step + Restarting made all the diffrence.
**Restart computer
** Download the game again through steam.
** If lucky it will launch on the first go.
** If not change compatability to "Windows XP Service Pack 3"
**** I did not need to install the legacy or additional PhysX from Nvidia's site. I guess if the above failed this is your last hope.
Hope this helps anyone else who still couldnt get to launch after doing everything like I did.
Launched it in Windows XP Service Pack 3 compatability mode and it launched without issue after that. However, now the problem is anything involving a menu runs like garbage (Inventory, options screen) Whereas the gameplay without menus on max settings runs extremely smoothly at a high framerate.
I had to go in and manually uninstall physx and clean out the remaining drivers, then reinstall physx from nvidia's site.
Edit: Also I fixed my framerate issue completely from reading another post on this forum, but I can't remember at all what it was that I did. Pretty sure I just looked up "Bad framerate in menues" or something.
Edit2: removed the custom curser graphic forcing the use of the default windows curser. Turns out the curser uses most of the game's resources lol.
After that I've copied:
cudart32_41_22.dll and
cudart64_41_22.dll
from PhysX folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common)
to Arcania folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arcania Gothic 4).
No problems after that :)
