black sheep and blacked out menus bug

Anyone else have this? the beginning of the game when you start on the island with the sheep. All the sheep are solid black with no detail and the menus and quick select bars are black squares/and or blacked out. I can't find anything related on google. Any help would be great.

btw, I tried turning the shadows and ssao down and no fix. My specs are: i7-4700MQ, GTX780M, 16gb ram, 64bit win8.

Well, so far the only fix I found through trial and error is to drop the texture detail one level. Any way to fix it without comprimising that?

Okay, I found a fix (it was googled and brought me back to steam actually). I cannot take credit for this but I know it works. Here are the instructions.

i edited the main executable's header file to use more than 2GB memory. some games will not load properly because they don't have enough memory for whatever reason.
i used CFF Explorer and edited Arcania.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arcania Gothic 4)
- open with CFF explorer (google it or something)
- click on "file header" (3rd tab down for me)
- click on "click here" on the bottom right box (meaning column, characteristics row)
- check the box "app can handle >2gb address space" and press ok
- save or make a backup of the original file just in case

this was taken from FO3 texture modes that required more memory than the game could handle by default so it was necessary to use it in order to exceed the memory limits otherwise you would get pink textures/missing textures but i realized that it can be handy for other games that arent optimized for 64bit as well

I downloaded it from CNET and it is legit. Just google CFF explorer and follow the instructions. select the "direct download link" under the big green download button. I think that will make sure you just get this program and not a bunch of other stuff. I use it and pumped the textures up to max and it looks great.
