Pathing can be a big issue but I usually don't mind that too much. It's the gameplay I'm curious about. Even though it's cheap with the offer I don't like subsidising poor standards. I could really use some idea from someone who played both.
Oh... and never marry someone from a different dynasty (the ones with shields/colours) that will bite you in the lower back when the original members of that dynasty dies off.
It sure does run on Win 7.
Max resolution is tweakable in a config file if your standard options isn't avaliable.
Got a question myself;
Steam says it's "one player" is there some restrictions on the steam version? (got the boxed version myself)
And ofcourse because they never fixed all the the little bugs, they are still there, but you get use to them and learn how to problem sovle.
the steam version does have the multiplayer option box, but never tried it i heard mp was completly broke and you needed another program to make a lan based internet game.
This is actually a memory issue, the game automatically kills off dynasties to fix some memory leaks.
Had a lot of this when running windows XP, but since some years ago I switched to windows 7 giving me access to more RAM I haven't noticed this even in the Hansa map.
I'm running 7 and this did happen on Hansa, But this was like 80 turns in, if not more. Oh and what makes it funnier is that they keept on sending assasins on to me :p
Thanks for the reply... I was hoping some more peole with experience of both games would comment. For me the Patrician sereis will take some beating. But I'd like to know the major differences in gameplay with either Patrician 2 or 3.
It sounds like the bugs might still allow a playable game.
Your family needs to be tended to, you can control 3 of them at the time, all of them can hold different council seats, each of them needs an education, a work, a spouse and new offspring.
Where in Patricial 2 you are juggeling prices in an automatic trading hub you are in The Guild 2 juggeling literally juggeling everyone and their grandma, not to mention that guy who just plain out refuses to vote your grandson into the town council year after year -how do you deal with it?Burn his house? Duel him? Kindnap him? Hostile takeover of his manufactury? Waylay his transports? Flood the market so he can't make profit? Send your wife to get him to like your family a bit better?
The main difference between P2 & G2 is that you zoom in a bit, see more details.
Many thanks.
Whilst I enjoy juggling politics up to a point, I'd really rather juggle trade and manufacture logistics. So it seems it's not yet time for me to try this game out... might buy it in a bundle.
P3 is more of a visual upgrade to P2 with some tweaks that were losses and others gains. The real beauty of both games is that you can autotrade if you can afford to employ good captains so the micromanagement element changes as you develop your empire.
I rarely play multiplayer games other than CoOp mode. It's more fun for me bringing in the logistical skills than using up the resources in fighting. It's a shame Patrician only runs quite low res.
