Applying for office, not working?

I finally bought the title of citizen. I should now be able to apply for office correct? My home is in Lyon. I click the inquistor position in lyon(the only one open), but nothing seems to happen. I am doing it while in the council palace, if that matters. While in the palace I have some new options of things to do, but none of them are applying for a political position. Any ideas?

Once your in the office an you apply you should get a message in the bottom left saying you have a meeting at 1700 the next day. It normally takes a day and they call for you to vote

I think you need to looks at the characters action bar instead of the builds action bar when you are inside. You can only aply for the bottom 2 ranks.

I tried again later thinking that I had to wait until the next day/season/24hours to apply. This seemed to be correct, as soon as the time was 00:01 I was able to apply.

Wrong.

You have to go from the lowest position to be an Inquisitor, unless you were an Inquisitor or equivalent rank before.
