Family members
Does my familymembers do any good if their not within my three spots? I am wondering to make more children but more than 1 is useless when I have to pay for their tutoring and such.

Maybe for a different class, or as back up? Plus your main characters wont live forever...

I had three sons. I think maybe they will be more useful when my first generation characters die.

  • They can help you in election, providing you put them in there. That way your dynasty can own the City / Town.
  • They will support you in Court trials (Family disposition towards another families applies to all member).
  • They will help you in a fight (But too risky, unless the females in your family is a child factory).
  • Lastly they can work without sleeping. Let them own a building, task them to work and kick them out of the 3 party slot. And watch them work till they die *grin

How do you get them to apply for office? The same trick as for working? Put them in your party, level them up, get them the position, and then boot them?

UPDATE: So I tried this, and it didn't work. As soon as I kicked the person out of my group, they ceased to e owner of the building they owned before. He is still City Magistrate though, and I keep getting notices that I need to be there for a trial. I just hope he shows up, because otherwise, I suspect I will get fined.

I think they are just running aimlessly around town and doing more or less nothing. Maybe visit mess at church or go drunk in a bar - but thats about it what they do.

What happens if say:

You have 2 characters.

Character a has profession a
Character b has profession b

both have workplaces belonging to their profession

You resign one from the group.

Does the other one get to be the owner of a building not of his profession?

If there is no one in the active members that are of the profession of the building, then the "leader" of the active member dynasty will "own" the building, though he won't be able to work there, upgrade, or do anything there. However if an employee of that business does some crime like murder, he will be responsible.

You can get your family members on council, but usually I have them just as insurance in case someone in my active family gets murdered or dies somehow. They are otherwise useless and live like nobility, drinking and partying away.

So, it seems a good idea to have three different classes of people in this 3 people group. This will keep the town active even when the opposing dynasty dies out.

And it means that when I kick the person out of the group, considering he is the only person of that class in the group, he should retain ownership of the buildings I assigned to him. That's good.

Right now on vanilla 4.21 version my scholar retains ownership of all patron class buildings.
Maybe after he dies but we'll see.
