Detailed Trade Route Instructions
I'm having trouble grasping the concept of the trade routes. I've looked all over and can't find a decent guide on it. Can someone either point me in the direction of one, or explain it in detail here.
Much appreciated.

Do they? I managed to set up a trade route that had the carts moving constantly, and they seemed to be going along. I did notice that the carts would just stop at the second location if they weren't set to constantly move, so I didn't bother with that option.

Anthony:

Let's say you want a route from your horse cart to your goldsmithery, carrying 20 gold, 20 silver and 20 gems each time, moving constantly. This is what I did, you can adjust the details as you like.

1. First you select your cart, I used a cart belonging to the mine.

2. Then click on 'set up a trade route'. It will ask you to choose your first building. Click on the mine.

3. A popup will appear, asking you various questions. Click on 'load'.

4. The available resources appear (I believe you need to have stock in your inventory for them to be seen). Click on gold. The next screen will ask for amount. Click on 20.

5. The popup from 3 will come again. Repeat steps 3 and 4, but for silver and gems instead.

6. The popup from 3 comes back, and now you click on 'next building'.

7. Click on your goldsmithery.

8. The popup from 3 appears, and you should now also see the 'unload' option. Click on it, select 'gold' and select '20' to unload all the gold you picked up here.

9. Repeat step 8 for silver and gems.

10. The popup from 3 will also have an option for 'send out'. Click that.

11. You will be asked how often you want this cart to run. Sometimes, Often, and Constantly. Choose 'Constantly'.

Your cart will now be moving between the mine and the goldsmithery. As far as I can tell, it won't stop or even give you an error if the mine doesn't have enough resources for one of those categories. I don't know how it'd work if you ran out of all three (would it tell you or not) or if the goldsmithery ran out of storage space.

As said above, I cannot vouch for how or if the cart works when you choose another frequency, or how to manage multiple buildings. I'd imagine the multiple buildings thing would be the same as above, you just choose next building in step 10 and then follow step 7 on as normal, but I haven't tried it.

Also, if you manually select a cart and tell it to unload (or unload and return) at a market, it will sell the goods for you. You don't have to send it, click on the market, manually sell, etc. This should probably work the same way with a trade route set up, but again, I haven't tested that.

The trade toute will fail after a bit if you set auto trading on the building that uses the cart. If you are doing everything manually, the trade routes work great.

Bit late to the party, but thank you so much for this, the game became a lot easier once I didn't have to micromanage every cart!

If you were late I just came to clean the dust.
The real bad side of trade routes is that you must have the product in the building inventory to be able to set it to load, not to mention you cannot edit the route.
that I saw. Didn't check but it would really help if a mod.
I find myself learning good information in old posts so screw necro when it adds value to the thread
