The Guild II: Renaissance

Does LAN not work?
I'm at my house with a friend and we both have copys of the game on each of our steam accounts and its not working, does the LAN not work for a steam version? Or do we both need something like tunngle to be able to do multiplayer?

As far as I know software like tunngle or hamachi emulates LAN connection between players via net. Since you already have a LAN connection with your buddy you probably don't need those tools. Though I can't say for sure since I haven't tried it myself - I've discovered this game only a few days ago but haven't played MP yet.
I've heard this game is full of bugs, especially in MP. Do you and your friend run the same version of the game? Steam downloads 4.17? (if my memory serves me well) while 4.21 version is available if you turn on beta updates.

I have a lan setup here, and in order to play Guild 2, I still use Evolve. Even with the super-stable connection, all versions the same, we still encounter crashes, and often have to move the save file over by usb or email.

VPN Software is not needed if you are connected locally. It is only needed, if you want to emulate a LAN via Internet. - The '"out of sync" error during network sessions was the same in the previous game. Even if connected in LAN, the error was occuring in most games. Very crazy that this is still not fixed in Guild 2 ... and it is def. not because of Hamachi, Tungle, etc.
