Closest out of modern games I tried, which are still very far off, are Medieval Dynasty and maybe Ostriv, stangely enough Ostriv feels to me like one big network of The Guild companies but it does not really have political stuff and such.
Medieval Dynsaty has no real econimical system or anything tho, and also no politics.
Strangely enough if I think further even Moun&Blade Warband has some of these elements, it has some politics, it has dynamic economies, you can start companies, even buy land with some mods etc.
But the main focus of the game will always be combat.
The fact that I can not think of any games that come closer is a testament to the uniqueness of The Guild:)
Hmm ow also really like running production chains in Kenshi but that experience is vert far off and probably not what you are looking for
I might check out Ostriv, didnt know about that.
If I ever wanna make a game, I d defi go for something like The guild 2. Cant we just get a remaster with pretty graphics & less bugs from THQ?
Haven't played personally, but this always gets a mention.
Isn't 3 really 2.5? As we're on the topic, Rise of Venice is the modern equivalent, except based on Venice as opposed to the Hansa and not being a massive improvement to the mechanics.
If you like the RTS and RPG elements, The Age of Empires series, Dawn of Man, Elder Scrolls games might be of interest too.
There's also The Guild Gold Edition, aka The Guild 1. It's not as good as Guild 2, but the reliance on Action Points and consumables as well as the very lineal guild progression is rather interesting. Guild 2 + expansions are much better though.
thanks! I would add Kenshi to that list as well
Reminds me of the Guild ahaha
If it was not early acess I would feel safer trying it
