What is the point of having more than one child?
I made 6 children. When they grew up I can only add one more to control group.

The rest just stand around and do nothing. I can't use them as free labour, they are literally statues in my house. I can't make them work, apply for office or do anything at all.

What is the point of having more than one child?

It mainly ensures the survival of your dynasty. I myself usually make 3 each a different class. But huh, you can make just one. I personnaly avoid making more than 3 to be sure to have space to make some more if I lose my actual childs. I wont spoil too much, but there is a random event that can happens in which you can... literally lose all your childrens during the event turn.

depending on how good you are at the game and how many years pass each turn, it could mean nothing or give you more options to work with once they make it to adults.

i mostly go one year at a time and im very good at rouges / scholars so ive typically completed before i get a 3rd generation going.

You can control only 3 family members. As I said I usually make 3 childs, each different class and then when my two first caracters are old, I replace them by their childrens. But ye, you cant control more than 3. Maybe there is some mods that change that.

correct, but you can pick what class each of them have and maybe by the time you hit child 6 they have higher starting stats that would make you pick them over the older kids. if at the time you start having kids you find it would be useful to have a patron but by the time they grow up you would want a craftsman you could easily choose one over the other if you had more then one kid. you could also get what you want and remove that family member from the list to be replaced with someone else.

or, as mad said, the other kids could die. as someone that tries very hard to get a scholar to marry my character at the start or start as one, ive found it very rare for my kids to die. 1 year per turn also helps with that. XD

You can switch characters once they come off age
