How to read and edit WLD save files?
In the game i created a powerful dynasty with the seizure of power in 4 cities on the largest map. Now I want to edit the save game and change the game dynasty to play against this monster. Thus, I want to liven up the life of the middle strata in a despotic environment. What software is the best for editing a file? The format is very problematic. Also, the game community is very small and I did not find any mention of similar problems. Probably because all forums are dead and are no longer supported by the community. I hope there are autistic people who plunged into the game also deeply.

.wld is a proprietary format, and the developers never released their development tools, so there is no known way to read them. I don't even think Nordic can legally release them, as I believe they are licensed from the original devs.

However, next time start your game as a LAN multiplayer game, rather than a single player game, and you can freely switch between dynasties; no savegame manipulation required.

But with your current save, you're out of luck. There is no way to migrate a singleplayer save to multiplayer, based on my testing.

Today I learned that several CAD programs work with this format. And:

https://new.siemens.com/global/en/products/automation/industry-software/automation-software/tia-portal/software/step7-tia-portal/simatic-step7-professional.html

But I highly doubt that they are related to saves of the guild, because nothing of the kind is required there and it’s enough just to fix the coordinates of each object.

Thanks for info, test it tomorrow.

No, this is not true. If you open the save game through any editor, then in the first paragraph you can notice:

"Multiplayer<CR>" and and porridge symbols. I think they can mean variables 1 or 2, true or false, yes or no, etc etc. The same goes for the dynasty, years per game day and other basic settings. If understand the format and get the translator, possible easily change any variable.
