Some guys want to see the city burning, so they kill entire dynasties. You can do that if you like. Or you try to make friendships with everyone. Up to you
and is it me or is the game INSANELY glitchy?
The key idea of the game is to become most powerful person\family in the city\country, by becoming rich and famous and either way eleminating other families and business rivals.
When setting up new game you can choose between 4 modes - Dynasty, Extinction, Timed and Mission. in all modes except 'dynasty' game is finite and consit of at least 1 solid goal to achieve.
-Started as a patron, the carts tend to stop unloading/loading stuffs randomly
-the traderoute mechanic is hell glitchy and only allows you to unload as much as the lowest amount in the inventory of your business even if you have a slot that's full
-no way to instruct the cart to only unload a fixed amount instead of overloading your businesses
-The 2 cutscenes at the opening of the game shows a black screen
-The start game menu glitches out and stops displaying the scroll options if you press "back" in your character creation
It's a mess! I'm afraid I just wont play this game, the concept is interesting but its such a pain in the ass to play.
MegaMod intruduce lots more content, but there are a few that I don't feel comfortable with (just base on the description). This is the main reason I still put it off for now.
If you are not playing on Venice map which was broken in literally everything including pathfinding and logistics since it appeared in add-on, than you doing something wrong, otherwise - change map to something else (London map possibly buggy to, not sure, go 'google it if curious).
2) No possibility to lock some slots in stock or choose fixed quantity of items really painfull but not a glitch at all, moreover nothing really limiting you to simply not buy all slots in main storage or fill it with random items (or simply send as many carts with items as possible so each unique stack wont deplete). And if its a critical problem for you - just play as rogue.
3) Game originally was released for WinXP so its weird to see a person blaming old game for not showing a startup videos on other systems with missing or wrong codecs.
4) Not sure what you mean by 'scroll options', but there was an old bug from original and early 'Pirates' versions, when highlighted arrows stop glowning. Still they should be functional, you just need to scroll to the 'left' side few times or press RMB 1-2 times because cursor may rarely 'leap' to some window or UI element.
If you only care about the tradings routes then my mod is still available for seperate download. It just takes a few modifications to integrate it into the unmodded version.

How do people defend this game?! I'm twisting myself in knots in an attempt to play it and it still doesn't work.
Maybe this game isn't for you.
Yes it is glitchy, but not unplayable, unless you are using one of the beta versions... You need to be using the base steam game, not any betas or patches, they are all outdated.
Thats part of the mod. Fruit and honey are ressources in the world now
