Cannot send children on Church Apprenticeships?
So I want to send at least one of my sons to Apprenctice in the Church and become a Scholar so that I can set up the first Church in Belley and reap those sweet, sweet tithes (while also attracting more patrons to my nearby Inn), however, most of the Churches are in Lyon itself.

I tried sending my first son to a Church apprenticeship but clicking the button to do so did nothing. I then tried Patron and he happily skipped off to train.

I've now tried Church Apprenticeship with my second and third sons but they don't go either.

I suspect the Apprenticeship takes place at the Churches rather than the Monastery where they started their schooling and that the Churches in Lyon are too far away? Any way round this? Do I simply have to wait for a rival to build a Church nearby I can train them at? Feels a bit awkward tbh

OK so I just tried building a house in Lyon right next to the Churches and moving my wife into it (I couldn't move my character as he holds office in Belley), which meant the children moved in as well. Once there they still could not be told to begin a Church apprenticeship.

As an experiment I tried saving the game and then resigning my office in Belley and moving my character into the house in Lyon also, but this did nothing to help get the kids into their apprenticeships so I re-loaded the pre-resignation save.

I now have no idea what to do it's like the Church apprenticeships are just closed off to my dynasty or something?

Not had this problem before as had the same setup in my last game with both a Protestant Craftsman husband and Catholic Patron wife having kids that could be turned into scholars (and anything else) at the apprenticeship stage.

The only thing I can think of is maybe the Churches have to be Cathedral level to train apprentices? I think all the local Protestant ones are no higher than Dome, there is a Catholic cathedral but my character and his sons are protestant (the wife is catholic though)

I think you encountered a mean bug. I don't think that the apprenticeship of becoming a scholar has anything to do with the curches in town. The reason you can't perform that action might lie elsewhere...

Damn, that sucks :(. Guess I will have to start again. Aside from this problem this save is going really well :(. Perhaps I will start off as a Scholar this time.

The annoying thing as well is I won't know whether I've got this problem on another game until getting a kid to a certain age, so it's a lot of time to invest before you discover the bug!
