Then you're only looking at half the picture. You also need to factor in the remaining years of their natural lifespan, indicated by the candle on their portrait.
Sometimes, you find age 17s with a lifespan of 66.
Sometimes, that serf that's pushing 30 has a lifespan of 98.
If you're really lucky, a 17 has that 90+ lifespan, and they'll stay with you forever.
Of course, you can't see the precise values without a memory editor, but the candles work well enough.
