Hey :)

It's possible to play The Guild 2: Ren on a Mac if you use a Virtual Machine. :)

I use Wine to play TG2 and a few other titles. You can download it for free with no subscription or upfront costs, just search for it in Google.

The only downside is that it would probably be much easier if you were to purchase the game from GOG instead of Steam, purely because you will be looking to get hold of the .exe files for the set-up installation to run them through Wine when setting it up on a Windows OS. (Sorry Steam!)

If you purchase it through GOG, you should receive the .exe files when you go to download them after purchasing it. The game is split into 2 files (you'll see this when you get the files). Download both part 1 and part 2. Once you've downloaded Wine and the .exe files from GOG, place both part 1 and part 2 onto your desktop so you can get quick access to them.

Right click on the file you received as "Part 1" and go to "Open with", then on the list select "Wine". You should get a pop up after that with two options; the first option will ask you if you want to open the file as is, the second will ask you if you want to bundle it into an app. Select the first option.

Once you've done that, Wine will populate a Windows OS onto your Mac and the game will be stored there. I believe it will be under Drive C -> GOG Games -> The Guild II Renaissance.

You might get a few pop ups towards the end of the installation mentioning some kind of error, this is sometimes normal so just press "Ok" on them and the installation should complete. If you're looking to access the game or add any Mod's to it in the future, you would need to locate it under the "application folder" library. You can access it by clicking on the "Go" option on the header of your Mac (top of the page when on desktop for Finder) and the option second from the bottom will say "Go To Folder", then copy and paste the following (NOTE: remember to change ****YOURUSERHERE**** to the name of whatever your user is on your computer):

/users/****YOURUSERHERE****/library/application support/

That will then take you to your application support. Since you've installed it with Wine, the application folder name for Wine is usually something along the lines of: "com.yourcompany.yourapp_" followed by a series of numbers so long as you have left it to populate as default.

Once you've gone into the folder, select "Drive C" -> "GOG Games" -> "The Guild II Renaissance" -> "GuildII.exe" (this will launch the game for you if you double click it - it will ask you again if you want to run it as normal or if you want to bundle it into an app, just keep selecting the first option as normal).

Hope that helps. ^^

This is the link for you to download Wine by the way. Just had a quick look on Google and noticed there's quite a few different download links showing up, so not entirely sure how reliable or trustworthy the others are, but this one ive posted above is the proper one to get. :)
