The Guild II: Renaissance

this or pirates?
Is it better to play this instead of the pirates of the european seas?

i'm in the mood for a sailing trading game similar to the port royal/patrician games. Apparantly this one has all the content, can i just concentrate on sailing trading or will i also have to build shops and have a profession, create goods myself, etc?

I must have left the tutorial for the pirates version running, it says I've played a bit but i haven't finished the tutorial. I havent played any guild games so I'm clueless.

Any help anyone?

Pirates is part of Renaissance, both have the sailing stuff. However in both games in my opinion sea trade is only a small part of the game play. I guess you can skip production if you start as a fisherman and use the boat for your trading. Once you have enough money you can build a warehouse near water and buy bigger ships

The Guild is no patrician game though

cheers for the prompt response!
