The Guild II: Renaissance

Stuttering while fast forwarding, eventually program freezes.
When playing this game on max settings it starts to stutter (very low FPS) when fast forwarding after a while (works fine when starting a new game, stuttering starts 15-30mins in). Eventually the entire program freezes or I can't click on anything while time progresses normally and I have to restart my computer. Is there a memory leak? Does anyone else experience this? How do I fix this?

My specs:

OS: Windows 10 Pro (x64)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.6GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
Graphics Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti

The game is not very kind to its engine and the engine cant really make use of multiple cpus. Also its map related, smaller maps with less sims and less decorators run more smoothly on fast farward. Compare Hansa with Hannover and you will see what I mean.

You can improve the performance by a lot if you deactivate error logging. Open config.ini and look for "logging"

Cheers, deactivated logging.
So would you say it's normal for the game to become a slideshow on max speed on the Hansa map? Should I just play smaller maps then?

Your monitor is the likely culprit of your video bottleneck. Or it could be your card settings are too high. Lowering the view distance in game will help alot also.

Yea view distance is really important.

Set everything to normal. Game is still a slideshow on max speed (Hansa map, camera inside a bakery) :( It works fine on normal and high speed, but max speed does like 4min ticks (so it goes from e.g. 22:20 directly to 22:24 followed by 22:28).

Its sounds like the issue is your graphic card settings. OR... just dont play the game on max speed since its meant to be played at normal speeds...

Fast forward is really just only for the first few rounds if you wait for something ... later you will slow down to have enough time for everything you have to do

This game is built on a very old Gamebryo version. Old as in before Elder Scrolls: Oblivion old. That version of Gamebryo for some odd reason ran at 59 frames per second. This caused a glitch every 60 frames or so b/c 59 is not the right framerate. Oblivion had it, Guild 2 has it, Fallout 3 has it, etc. Bethesda fixed this in Fallout 4 and Skyrim but other games built on that version of the code and before still have the issue.

So could it be solved by using RivaTuner and fixing a fps limit to 59 ?
I'm still in the refund period and don't want to waste test game time on finding a fix... :(

Edit : Tried with a max limit 30 fps setup and didn't change my stuttering problem, it's just so annoying, the game seems fun but can't get into it, this stuttering really push me away
