It's weird that they would even add that stuff to the install... it's just utterly unnecessary bloatware.
And the long answer is that I did a bit of digging and all these items are there to support video playback. The thing is, the only video in this game is the intro sequence when you first boot it up - which you would usually skip through anyway. It's kind of a sloppy solution to a trivial aspect of the game.
Removing these software items means that you can hear the audio of the intro but you don't see it. One click of the mouse and you're into the main menu.
So yeah, it won't hurt your PC to keep them and it won't hurt your game to remove them. The choice is yours...
