How do you unlock more ships?
I can afford the ship I want but it's locked.

Who do I gotta kill to unlock it?

You have to kill the spaghetti monster at sector 6.

Alternatively, you can unlock the ship by leveling up and unlocking it as a starting ship. That is when it will be unlocked in reinforcements as well :)

Lol thanks, I'll look out for that :P

To clarify levelling up only happens after you die? So you can't unlock new ships during a play-through?

Yepp, only when you die. And be sure not to quit and start a new game mid play because that will not give you experience. You can quit and continue on from where you left off, but if you start a new game it doesn't give you the experience. So if you feel like starting a new game its best to die and then start a new game.

Can you feed this way? That is... deliberately go out and die as fast as possible to get access to the ship you want?
Talon Dec 11, 2016 @ 1:40pm
Yes, you can do that. Play on hard and just continually die to get exp to unlock more ships.

Just out of curiosity, do you (or anyone else) know how this is viewed by the community as a whole? I take it more folks would feel a greater sense of pride/accomplishment doing it with the weakest ship?

Is this xp-farming viewed as cheating? Don't care personally if it is considered so... again, just curious, because it's a convenient way of upgrading if you simply get bored with your current ship and want something new. Kinda helps to keep the game fresh... in a way. :)

I have no idea how it's viewed. I would assume no one cares, why would they, it's a single player game. Also, the higher level ships aren't really stronger, they gain weapon slots/fighter bays but tend to lose hull and shield cap in the process which really runs counter to the way you'd expect things to go with larger ships. Also they're usually slower and less able to turn which does make sense for larger ships. The starter carrier is actually decent, I've managed to make it to the final level on hard once and it was with that ship. Granted, I had a pair of higher level ships with twin fighter bays each giving me a lot of fighter cover but those ships kept dying because they were just too slow to get out of range of the enemy weapons.

Doesn't this seem like a poor design choice to anybody else? Why not put in a "Retire" button for when you've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up but don't want to see the rest of your fleet killed or give up on your xp?

Yes it is poor design from us. I wanted to say that so perhaps we can spare some frustration for players. We will see when we could have time to fix it, we're working fully on a new game hoping to have it in a releasable state later next year!

Personally, I love this game - got it on my phone too. Nice work, Devs!

How do I get Afterthought? I unlocked the next 2 ships, but not it.
aksel_bugbyte  [developer] Dec 17, 2016 @ 12:46am
@alexshiro. Interesting, they should all unlock one by one from the top down, except for the alien ships, which are unlocked by collecting blueprints.

Shoot a mail to support@bugbyte.fi and perhaps we can help unlocking that ship as well.

My bad, I was looking at the formation unlocks, it's actually much further down in the main ship unlocks.

I think it's because the Afterthought shows up in the reinforcement list well before it should. It needs level 19 but shows up between the Raven and Resolution, and the Erishkigal shows up between the Armada and Valiant in the reinforcement list even though it needs level 17.

They're in the proper spot in the list when starting a new game and picking your initial ship though, it's just the reinforcement list that has them in the wrong spots.
