Anarchy Online

Worth it in 2025?
Hello, everyone! Been years since I last played, SC of Komodo. How is the game in 2025? Does the game have a healthy population to play or is it just afk MB'ers? Miss playing this relic.

I seen players running around in the cities. Population was higher than I expected.
I've not checked the leveling up spots.
The sound and atmosphere is still good. The graphics... i can live with it. It a bit retro.
But is good to try to find friends and a guild fast, because no mmo is worth playing solo. You will not sit and wait for players to randomly gather at your spot like in the old days.

My wife and I are old school AO players and we recently returned. Have to say we are having a great time. There seems to be a fairly active community especially in and around ICC, GMT/Euro timezone players seem to be the bulk of the crowd so depending on where you live will determine how many people you see. We see a lot of folks in Subway, ToTW etc. Not sure of higher level areas. Its free to play so why not check it out. We ended up starting subs,

I have been trying to play this game for 20 years. I LOVE the music, atmosphere, and the difficulty of it but Once I get past Noob Island I always bog down. I do the sewers and the Temple i think its called but after that I end up quitting every time because I cant figure out what to do, and travel is so hard to figure out. I wish I could hire someone and say, just show me how to play and where to go. I have spent so much time watching videos and research it would be worth it. Yes Ive tried to do orgs as well but people that are still playing are getting tired of helping people it seems. I just wish i could figure this one out.

Check out Faffys guide. I returned after a long break and it was very helpful to catch me up on the new leveling paths. There is a lot of choice for free or paid accounts.

Perfect thanks to you too Arnuph1s!
The multiboxers ruined any hope of this becoming a playable game with a community ever again.

Also the weird design choices with the font style on signs is a huge turn away. plays more like decentraland metaverse demo than an MMORPG

Why are you even here in an AO forum?

Pretty much every old MMO has multiboxers. The days of people having one computer are long gone. Yea its annoying but its not going away. TBH I have had no issues with them in AO so far but then I don't PVP.
Its still active and just as equally alive as EverQuest 1 and 2
It's still pretty active, I just joined AP and there's usually a dozen or so people online during the day (EST) midnight it slows down. Try it out for a few weeks!

It's pretty quiet at PST time but earlier in the day its a pretty active. Since the quality of life buffers make soloing much easier its worth giving it a try.
