This game was so amazing 10-13 years ago, i remember how i have not slept nights playing raids with my clan and exploring the word, trading and crafting omfg. Now this is history. It is a shame they did not upgrade the game graphics and did not do what this game deserves.

Cheating has been going on for years, Github has so much stuff you can use it's silly.
MB was the one of the 5 nails in FC coffin.
I played since 2001 September or so, last time I played was when the 2019 server opened then died few months later.

It's next to nothing on back end servers, wouldn't be surprised if it isn't run on a VM with conan, such low resources to keep it going.
The game has it's followers, not many but the cheaters and MB'ers are there and the old farts that can't let go lol..

Probably wouldn't take much to "remaster" AO, but the biggest problem is now, they are no longer funcom they sold the company a while back, to Tencent, and the company they sold to doesn't remodel or re-market, they milk it dry then leave it or sell it off.

Sp you will never see a revamp or AO 2 ever, the IP will be sold off or buried.

sad to say but, AO had it's day long long lOOOOOOOng time a go and made FC what it use to be before it was driven into the ground.

I wouldn't even play froob now, it's so empty and the fact they still charge is meh, Tencent need to get the fortnite guys in and make it all free and item shop the sizal out of the game, hell id even play it with fortnite graphics at least it would be more modern standard... just barley though

Like anything it's worth is what you put into it. There is a lot to like, & a lot to not like. Best to try it out for free for yourself.

I stop in on rare occasions but it isn't for long. Too difficult to get a team and I keep seeing all the flaws now.

The worst is the AI that stand there and kill you or die. Almost as dumb as punching bags.

Steam is very lazy and has not integrated the game client, so when you enter the game, it does not show this, you need to apply special launch parameters, but this disables the game launcher and you cannot select a server.
If you look at the sold graces, you can assume from 500 to 1000 accounts with a subscription and an unknown number of froobs, but you need to know that many people have several accounts, so there are fewer real people.
