Except ,since you mentioned the mmo which name should never be spoken,an old quote comes to mind, back in the golden days when AO was still viable:

As for sci-fi MMOs, I don't care for SC. Dual Universe is where it's at! It's like EvE/Dust and Space Engineers had a baby, and it'll have something for everyone. Not just a persistent world, but a persistent player-made SOLAR SYSTEM and player driven economy, with plans for other systems in the future. Alpha, so far, has progressed incredibly and you can tell they have a very clear vision for the game.
But for a long time they pretty much ignored free players and left the afraid by claiming it would only be available until 2007. Then instead of kicking out free players in 2007 when the game was already loosing lots of players they added Miy's armor and made Notum wars free.
But people were asking for actual changes to Rubi-ka like new areas and Experience buffs.
I believe it was 2010 when they introduced daily missions which were a great thing for froobs but by that time I don't think there were many froobs around. 2016 they finally added content to Rubi-Ka that Froobs could access when they added The Reck. I was already done with the game pretty much by then so never experience it.
But all that time that froobs where being left alone or ignored.... paid players got tons of content, especially with Lost Eden and then came Xan.
Funcom have made some strange decisions over the years, which is a shame because they have the ability to do so much better.
