Any luck on getting old character names back?

I was being nostalgic and thinking about reupping my subscription, then turns out my characters now all have numbers after their names.

Bit of a last resort, but you can pay real life money to change your character name.

Back when the servers were merged the oldest (usually) character with the name got to keep it, everyone else had their names changed like yours.

You should still be able to /petition to get your name changed for free since the reset was not your choice.

Might want to create a new alt to work out a new name to make sure one is available of your liking first though! :D

Ever set your nickname via chat commands ? And I am pretty sure under level like 25 or 50 we are able to change our names via the commands.

When they merged servers I believe they gave everyone that had thier character names autochanged the ability to use the commands to change thier name.



There's an ingame service for first/last/nick name change.

Typing "/name help" in a chat window will get you a brief help on the available commands and rules of use, or simply:
- Type "/name first myfirstname" for requesting to change your first name to "myfirstname"
- Type "/name last mylastname" for requesting to change your last name to "mylastname"
- Type "/name nick mynickname" for requesting to change your nick name to "mynickname"
(All without the quotes.)

So just set your nickname and that should change your charactor name.

I rember back when I started playing in like 2004 on rk2 I had a trader I named "becomes" and I made his first and last name "Death "becomes" you" and I though it was so freaking cool.

It's been awhile since I played but I am pretty sure that is how I changed my character names after the merge a few years ago.

So yeah hopefully the info I've provided is accurate but I am not 100% of 75% of the things I think I know or remember these days.

Hi, I remember years ago the way you described worked.
But these days... no luck, regardless of the level.
Probably the computer processing the script left Funcom years ago and no one noticed :)

oh yeah i think it was broken back then a lot too and you had to do
/petition Change my nickname to xxxxxx please.

Not sure how long it takes them to deal with petitions these days since the game is maintenance mode.
