Professions are unbalanced, and this is why this game is great. All mmorpgs nowadays got every class balanced, there is no point choosing a class or a profession because you'll end doing exactly the same thing. In AO you got enough professions to choose one that fit your playstyle, and it won't look like another one.
I have read that Guide a lot of times, problem here is that its old
secord. You can use 1 day or a week try finding the parts you need to make the stuff in this guide.
Yes I maybe doing something wrong. But why do I need to build a trimmer to make my pet aggo for me ?? If I was a engineer in AO I would build my robot with aggo trimmer from the start if you see the point.
Just like pets in WOW already has a aggo ability.
There are a lot of games where everything is balanced and easy (i would say flat and boring...), according to what you say, i guess these kind of games suit you more than AO. You should think about it, because trimmers aren't the only thing you'll need for your bot.
Not sure if this is a troll post now or not, but I will bite. One of the great things about the engineering prof is the huge tool set that is available to it. Trimmers are part of the profession and always have been, nobody has really complained about it, it just has been that way. Then again most of us played before more casual pet profession games were released.
I understand you want the function "Built In", but it it isn't from the start. Funcom eventually added it in via the Alien Invasion perk lines like gadgeteer's "taunt box". If you are playing as a froob account you will sadly miss out on this later on, but I can tell you some tips that will help regardless.
Back before pet hunt was removed it was easy, as you would hide around a corner and just /pet hunt and wait a good 20-30 seconds behind a wall or at least block Line of Sight before opening up your attacks and then AOE Blinding. Now you have to target the hostile and /pet attack or wait for your pet's guard function to kick in if the hostile attacks you. The same rule from above still applies. Wait a good 20-30 seconds to let your pet take a few good chunks of health from the target before you engage and afterward AOE Blind (Preferably staying out of LOS). Keep the target NCU window open to see if your blind falls off or not, sometimes it sticks for a while sometimes it drops off immediately.
AO has an aggro table similar to World of Warcraft, HOWEVER, keep in mind it does bug out sometimes and mobs regardless of the aggro list will randomly target you and take a swing or two at you before switching back to your pet (If you have SL you will see your mech dog sometimes take hits too especially when you first get it and it does more damage than the slayer).
Add in the aggro and offense trimmer and your pet should be dishing out good damage, usually more than you can. After you figure out the aggro timing and when to engage, you will realize just how powerful Engineer is, if anything engineer is due to for a big nerf in the future if funcom ever comes back around to developing the game further. At endgame we engineers are not only top 5 Damage Dealers, but we can tradeskill and solo a lot of things most professions can't even blink at.
Don't forget your first aid kits, and battle health packs, they give you decent healing mid fights. Eventually start investing lots into evades, and start fighting with your def/aggro bar on full def and use the AOE Blinds, mobs won't even hit you at that point. This is how we endgame engi's solo, with a mix of aggro timing, AOE Blinding, and just raw Damage Output from our pets and our crazy guns (I'm a dual pistol engi, but crit grenade engi's are badasses as well). When it comes to froob DD I'm a bit out of the loop.
Hope this helps, if you are truly stuck and need some guidance in game, look me up in game as "Memphisraves". I'm only on later at night but I will help where I can.
