Account banned for no reason (solved)
Watch out if you decide to pay to play this game, in all honesty it's a very fun game but this game fails misserably in the same area ALL funcom games fail, their management sucks. I have a relative that plays this game and her account was banned for NO reason at all, she couldn't even get a response on WHY her account was banned and She doesn't use any 3rd party software, she plays alone or with a friend most of the time and her activity in the game doesn't include things that WOULD GET HER BANNED!, none of us can think of any reason at all why her account was banned.

save your money and play Froob if you plan on playing. you may go to log on one day a week after you made a payment and find out your account was banned FOR NO REASON!

this is POOR business practice and their PAYING CUSTOMERS don't deserve that treatment especially from a game thats 16 years old, in my opinion they're stealing money from their customers.

Sure, i beleive you.

Did you email customer support? If it's a temp ban then they will tell you what you need to do.
Was the ban shortly after a payment? It might be a ID check ban. Sounds silly but it's a thing with them to make sure the proper owner of the CC is using it.

beleive me or not, it's my mother, she doesn't do things that would get her BANNED from the game, she plays the game with 1 person, what the heck could she do to get her account banned? of course she emailed customer support. But they couldn't be bothered to message her back. She told me she made a payment a week and a half ago so if they weren't going to accept her payments then why the heck wouldn't they just do it right from the start? doesn't make sense and to me these guys are stealing her money.

She payed for a month and only got a week and a half.

yeah no doubt you're right. probably an I.D check, so noble of them to protect my mothers credit card, too bad they weren't so noble when they were accepting her payment for the month. I've seen things around this forum that say they're going to be asking for a photo of her credit card and some other peice of I.D and something tells me she wont be doing that. I know I wouldn't.

I know a phishing scam when I see one.

I had to do the ID check a while ago. It went through np and i got my account back.

Playing since 2003, never had any issues with support.

I guess you didn't read the EULA, where it is written they can close your account without any reason, like about every video games?

It's theft if they take your money without agreement, they didn't.

It's a scam if you didn't received what is on the contract, again it's not the case, it's written in the contract.

About phishing, it would be totally stupid to try to steal some CC informations when you gave them by yourself a few days earlier :steamfacepalm:

So it's totally legit from their side, you're free to agree or not BEFORE paying.

About your issue, i think it's an ID check, you're free to not reply, they're free to keep your account frozen. If it's not an ID check, then something happened, perhaps it's not your mum, perhaps the account has been hacked, in which case you should be happy they freeze it so hacker can't use it too.

Never had to do any id check in 13 years, the fact they banned the account means it was either spoofed or she may have used an exploit without even knowing it, it happens.

Whats intresting is, if it isn't CC, loging related, ( frozen and banned are two different status for the account with funcom ), then it must have been somthing pretty bad for them to even bother doing anything, you can do so many shadey things in game atm and no one ever does anything Funcom side.

Hard to see it being the CC tbh, that's all instant now. and if they didn't respond that would point me to the email account attached tot he AO account, they are pretty prompt ( 24/48 hours for FC is prompt) as there job preformance is also stat based witht hose surveys playing a part in there job perfromance.

Never had any issues with support not replying, ive even sent some pretty bad emails somtimes which i figured would get me banned.. but nadda.


Has your mom tried to make a Free account witht he same email ?

Playing on and off since 2001 and either participating in or lurking the forums, and I've never even heard of an incident like this. As playomot touched on, the game is in the hands of its GMs, who have a reputation for sorting cheats and exploits out by hand. In one famous incident, a GM accosted a player in game and physically chased him down in order to make him unequip gear he wasn't supposed to be using. Even then the player wasn't punished.

I do recall an incident where a player was disciplined for an offensive name and the GMs didn't seem to care that the name was chosen innocently. But if I remember right, even this person was only forced to change his name.

I did have some credit card issues, where my bank's fraud department balked at what they felt was a suspicious foreign charge, but I was dealing with Funcom directly. I can't imagine this happening with Steam unless OP's mother hung up on her fraud department by mistake, and this would have resulted in her entire Steam account being frozen.

It's worth noting that at this point the entire staff is made up of people who were drawn from the player base. It has been like this for years.

I have played and have been a paying customer of this game since is was in beta and have many many friends within the game itself (also a few real life friends who play it)

Never has any of the people i know have ever "just been banned for no reason at all"
the only people who do get banned in this game are the serial exploit users and the people who buy ingame currency from a 3rd party website and are caught by funcom due to the game logs.

I think your friend is not telling you the whole truth on this matter....

All 6 of my accounts are now disabled with zero email messages or explanation. All I did was register 5 froob accounts for multiboxing, which is allowed (there are many forum threads about it on the official site). My main account is a fully paid account with all expansions, which I've had for 11 years (and I have been playing on and off since LAUNCH!). This is complete bull.

They eventually worked everything out, apparently my mom has 2 emails and she used to play Secret world, the email she used was different from the email she used for the secret world. So no she didn't do anything wrong. It was just agressive identity protection from Funcom and nothing more.

Anyway that was awhile ago now :)

lol one day i created a tonn named : "superXTC".....

5 minutes later on the froob island, a guy appears front of me and ask me "you are fine ??"

i answered "Yes, thank you !" :)))))))))

.........

i mean if this^ guy dunno why he got banned i think he haves grave relationships problems.....

(and sometimes it does not need to argue more.)
