Windows 10 start up?????

I am unable to launch in windows 10? is there a patch available? I tried running at 800 X 600 and it still crashed so it's not a resolution issue.

Still works fine on Windows 11 with even an ultrawide monitor set to side by side though it does play havoc with window #2 while window #1 is out of sync in resolution. Try setting compatibility mode

Unfortunately windows 11 doesn't have a simple option for that, the way XP used too.

It has the same options. Browse into the game folder, right click the exe file selecting properties, click compatibility tab.

I wasn't able to find a compatibility option. Either in the game files or in game properties. It's like my copy was downloaded without that option.

I tried adding the texture fix into the game file but that didn't work either.

This does not make sense and is impossible unless you are trying to look at Steam properties.

Go to Steam, right click empire, there is a popout menu list, find the option to browse local files. Open local files, go to Empire.exe and right click, select properties, and wallah!

i think @hazardHawk is full of themselves, When I try to do compatability troubleshoot it still says failed.

Go into your Start menu search field and find msconfig, then open msconfig.
Click on the boottab Systemstart.
Click on the Advance Options button.
Check the little box next to "Maximum memory" and set the max to 2048.
Restart your computer.
It should work fine now. =)

It works. I just did it. The game runs on Windows 11 now.

The important part is the d3d8.dll file inside the zip archive, not what he decided to name the download. Presumably the same fix works for more than one game.

Its not working for me, I've got that file downloaded and it doesn't seem to do the trick.

Tried compatibility mode windows 7 but that didn't work either.

EDIT: I tried it again, it seems to be hit and miss so far.
