The only reason I noticed is because both games are on my Wishlist, and I manual sort the things by price then name. Pretty weird, that.
Could've sworn that the + was there ever since they were publishing with Nicalis I think.
Strangely, I remember the game was listed on the Playstation store for like a week before it was removed and never returned. Then I tried to play it on Steam and it would never run. Ended up having to get a Switch to play it and it was worth the wait.
But the game's been Ittle Dew 2+ on Windows since May 24th, 2019. -- https://steamcommunity.com/games/ittledew2/announcements/detail/1615016429201446760 -- with the price increase happening back in September of 2024, around when I made this post.
It's not that simple. It came out in 2016 on Windows, XBox and Playstation without the "+." The console versions got taken down quick and we instead got the "+" version released on the Switch sometime in 2017...but this was the only version with the "+" on it.
The original Steam version was never taken down since it was self-published but it was not the "+" version at that time. For a while, only the Switch had the "+" version but eventually these updates were ported to the Steam version in 2019 and it was dubbed "+" at that time.

As for the price increase, I don't know on that one. But, while the Dream World DLC was free for existing owners, they may have decided that was enough of an addition (five full dungeons) to warrant a price increase.
I remember a similar situation with Shovel Knight. I bought the original for like $15 and then they added three full-game expansions to it. They were all free to me since I had it already but they raised the price of the game to about $25/$30 for new buyers because the content was pretty extensive.
In the end, I don't feel it's a big deal and it's not like it's hurting the loyal fans who were supporting from the beginning...they still get the new stuff free.

Also, be aware the increase only happened on Steam. I just got it for $15 from the Nintendo store. And Ittle Dew 1 is still going for $10. I often find it crazy that a PC version of a game is ever more expensive than a console version....it's like the exact opposite of how it should work but that's Steam for you.
