Painkiller: Resurrection

Painkiller: Resurrection

Cathedral secret #5 is just a big "f*ck you" to completionists
After trying for an hour, my thumb is red and swollen now. I'm a compeltionist and always strive to try to get all the achievements and also complete the hardest difficulties. I collected all of the secrets on the original Painkiller - even from the Forest bonus level which can only be accessed on trauma. Right now I'm playing Resurrection on trauma (after having gone through the "unlock all tarot cards" run, as having the tarot cards already unlocked helps on trauma). I did have some troubles with the Cathedral secret #3 (the ceiling health pickmeup) but this #5 is just impossible. I can't imagine who in their right mind could've created a secret like this. The game basically turns into "Getting Over It".

You either keep falling down from the side of the bell or from the horizonal pipe on top of it, or finally the steep stairwell pushes you away to your doom after climbing it from the horizonal pipe on top of the bell. I haven't even gotten to try the leap of faith at the end of the stairwell to the huge nail sticking from the board all the way up, at the end of the stairwell: I always end up getting pushed from the steep stairwell after climbing from the horizonal pipe. And as this is trauma, I have to start all over again from the platform below.

I'm reconciling trying a separate "find all secrets" run on a difficulty where I can actually save my progress. This would make getting these infuriatingly hard secrets at least somewhat more tolerable, when even a small amount of progress could be saved. But I don't really know if it's worth the effort, since these secrets seem to be too much of a chore to get and they aren't even helpful on lower difficulties since the game opponents aren't that hard.

Have you tried to get all of the secrets? What are your experiences of it?

I used to be a complectionist, then i figured out that is ruining all the fun for me. Because of complectionism i've began to hate really good games.
Now i just playing games for fun and immersion and don't care about gettin 100% in every game.

Who cares? In few years there will be no difference between 2018 post and 2021 post.

I appreciate every post! :)

But I've personally moved from Painkiller series to other games. And yeah, I dropped the completionism with this title.

Who complains about necros on a forum with 3 pages of threads, and moves so slow that the first page still has topics from 2017 on it? People make no sense

I gave up on trying to get that one secret in Forest, etc; it was too much BS. How-to vids make them look way too easy and just end up feeling like a big ♥♥♥♥ you

I woulda suggest practicing the secret on a lower difficulty, but really giving up was the correct choice. Not worth it just for bragging rights on a game from 2009 no one cares about

Year is not that important, old games may be good, it's quality that's matter.

Also i share your opinion that necro-complainers are morons. Bring nothing to conversation and just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ without a good reason.

Well, I was being facetious, but also only referring to bothering with the near-impossible secrets

I still play Painkiller+BOOH at least once a year, not so much Resurrection and Overdose though, because Resurrection is kinda wonky and Overdose won't launch at all

Resurrection is not "kinda wonky", it's a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disaster.

It actually boots, unlike Overdose
