Work on windows 8
WIll thee spellforce games work on win8 64bit? Looking at the collection on sale but not sure if it will work on win8 rig. So far Win8 seems to play most of the old games I have better than vista and 7 did. Anyone else got it running on win8?

Thanks

Works on my win 8 64. Although it runs in windowed mode(have to mention this, havent found a way to select full screen mode) and there is no way to select maximum wide screen resolution... No crashes so far though. Boggles my mind why Spellforce 1 ran better...

have you tried alt+enter? alt+enter or ctrl+enter maximized the program you are in (forget which). Otherwise there might be an option in your graphics card software to force it (or the .ini file if there is one). Just throwing out some options. Only reason I can see it not playing in full screen would be your monitor res isn't supported by the games res list. Might have to edit the file to add it. Idk, I don't have the game so just some suggestions.

If it won't run on windows 8- the gog.com version lists that it does: unlike the steam version; it is currently on sale.

It may be worth it to you to get the gog.com version- simply because they have a money back compatibility guarantee.

The game SPELLFORCE 2: SHADOW WARS & SPELLFORCE 2: DRAGON STORM are on sale from gog.com for $3.99 each- along with a host of other nordic titles for the next 15 hours.

If it doesn't run on "Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8)" you can get your money back- unlike the rest of the downloadable gaming universe. The gog.com version is the most compatible versus steams version which lists the games compatibility as follows "OS: Windows XP/2000/Vista 32 Bit".

it worked on win8 later on win8.1 64bit version ....but then suddenly after steamupdate : *poof* window mode .... have the same probs with skyrim and oblivion too.... don`t know what triggers this error.
Maybe i check out my non steam version again (which i uninstalled because of incompatible starforce .... (ok they removed starforce in a patch later)) ... sigh.

Running the steam version of Spellforce 2 in compatibility mode on Windows 8 does appear to force it to run in windowed mode... And alt+enter does not force it back to full-screen. For some reason, having it run in compatibility mode causes it to enable the "force windowed mode" settings, I suppose. Peculiar and annoying, since Spellforce 2 doesn't align the clickable button areas properly with the mouse cursor when it's running in windowed mode. :( And unfortunately, you basically HAVE to run it in compatibility mode, to avoid the "invisible mouse cursor" bug.

From what you're saying, it sounds like the other Steam-version Spellforce games have similar issues.
