SpellForce 2 - Anniversary Edition

SpellForce 2 - Anniversary Edition

Starting out
Few questions before I start out and compare it to Spellforce 1:

1. Any versions or bugs or some such I should be aware of?
2. Any good mods?
3. Should I finish BoW and SoP first or should I just go to SF2 with fresh impressions?
4. Anything else I should know about?

Anniversary Edition is littered with many game breaking bugs. I advise you to revert to Gold Edition. There's the World of SpellForce mod that adds around 70 new units in total + new coop and skirmish maps (alternatively 3 new playable subfactions namely the Undead, Beastmen and Demons). There is also a tech tree reset mod. There are some BoW and SotP easter eggs and/or lore development, so to fully comprehend the story, playing those addons beforehand would really help.

Reverting is done the same way as reverting to 1.54 is in SF1?

What's the major difference between SF 1 and 2?

Yes, through Steam properties.

Well, SF2 is quite a lot streamlined compared to the first game, from RTS to RPG. That doesn't mean it's bad, but it's less complicated for good or worse. SF1 is much more slow paced. SF2 throws you right into action.

What do you think is a proper build for Insali the Shadow Warrior from Breath of Winter?

Melee/white magic hybrid could work. It's classic.

Yes, but does it fit INSALI as a character? He don't seem like a Melee/White to me.

Then go melee/black magic. All tech trees in the game are quite charming. I even recommend a mind mage for your SotP run. It's always good to experiment with some crazy builds.

Actually, I originally went into Order with Mind Magic, but then changed it to Boons / Curses(so I get more mileage from RTS as it were). And I reserved Mind for Spellforce 2. There is Mind in SF 2, right?

Yup, and streamlined just like the rest of the spell trees. I would recommend an archer/mentalist hybrid in SF2.

I highly recommend to play the "classic gold branch" and if ou have performence or technical issues then just use this one here:

I decided to go with classical Ranged(Crossbow) in BoW. I know that's not technically Insali, but I thought "Shadow Warrior", hm...how about if I apply Heavy Combat to Ranged(Shadow Warriors, Alith Anar...what can I say?) and...there it is! BoW seems significantly better in beginning than Dawn Order.

Thank you. I'll get to it once I finish Phoenix.

How do I change to "classic Gold Branch"? Is it that second option under "Beta" header where it literally says just "spellforce 2 - "? Regardless, it's asking me for a CD key which I naturally don't have(Steam purchase lol).

(I gave up on Phoenix, it's just boring me)

(any way to play on modern resolutions? With the classic Gold branch, I don't want to choose between bugs and graphics)

Uh, question. Why does everything look so blurry, why does Spellforce 1 look better? I know that they went for more WoW-y look(imo, it's a downgrade), but everything looks so blurry even when I put it on my native rez(FHD). Is there a mod(or whatever) that upscales textures?

Also, any official gender or name for the protag?

Nah, maybe it's my weird way of coming to terms with things, but it...it is a weird companion to Spellforce 1. It feels like the RTS part is really tacked on, like the game wanted to be more of a Dungeon Siege alike than anything else.

With that said, why the ♥♥♥♥ is Healing so WEAK?
