For a paladin style build:
White Magic - Life: Adds healing spells for extra survival,
White Magic - Boons: beneficial auras for summoned units.
Or if you prefer debuffing enemies instead for a Dark Knight build:
Black Magic - Curses
Any style play build:
Black Magic - Death for some ranged spell options if wanted
Elemental Magic - Fire/Ice for AoE crowd control and damage
Admittedly I tend to play more Mage style then Melee in going with several Magic Arts with Light Combat Arts as a fall back for when low on mana, so my experience will definitely vary from yours.
never way a fan of white magic in the first spellforce series andi even tried it but i couldn't get used to it as for mods..... no i'm a vanilla guy when it comes to spellforce
It's not really worth it. It'll drain ypur mana for minimal life gain. Better to use damage and defense buffs. Necro warrior is severly outclassed compared to a paladin style class.
https://spellforce.fandom.com/wiki/Stats_of_Ability_Tree
All Stats starts at 25 points, and you get 30 more that you can spread among your Stats as you please.
Each level up, gives you 5 Stat points.
That gives 5*29 = 145 for OoD or BoW, and 5*20 = 100 for SoP.
So doing the math, You can add 30 + 145 = 175 points in first games and 100 more in SoP,
Basically, you can't max two schools, that needs four Stats.
With three Stats needed, you can.
Another thing is the amount of micromanaging you are willing to do.
My advice is to google after build plans on the Internet.
Well yes, but that is less to do with Necro being bad and more the fact that Boons are stupidly strong. Necro isn't unviable, very few builds in this game actually are, even fewer with Attribute Freedom.
Never said it's not viable to beat the game, just that it's not worth it if you want to play a heavy warrior with an aura buff since there's much better options than lifetap.
Technically you can beat this game by going fire magic and nothing else.
