Desired resolution bug
Whenever I start the game I get a error saying I don't have the desired resolution.

I saw the fix of using config.lua but I can't find that in my local game files. Where is it? Or is there something else I have to do.

Thanks

once you enter the local files (SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Spellforce Platinum Edition) just use the search at the top right and enter "config.lua".
Once you open it with Word or something, replace the number in screen resolution to "1" without changing anything else then save over the file

I do not have a config.lua

Googling gave me one to use, but that didn't work either.

The log file in Documents\SpellForce, has a lot of "[INFO][UTL]: Error reading the config file config.lua. Default values used." ending with "[TERMINATION] UTL_QuickIntegrator::CreateDisplay()
Desired resolution not found. Please install latest drivers!"

Any ideas? Anyone have a working config.lua that can be posted for me to use?

For those who have this problem in the future:

I used the information in the thread located on this board (Thread Name: CD key, Rising Black Screen & Resolution Fix) to get to the following webpage: http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=23880&start=50

This had a 7zip file with a modified executable for specific resolution screens. Replacing the STEAM executable with the one for my screen resolution allowed this to work without the config.lua file. I have been able to play, save, load, etc without problem since making this replacement.

Godspeed future problem havers.

When you open Local Files, you should be able to click on "config" right there

This is what it shows for me:

Stored =
{
LastPlayed = "Thanan",
}
UserInterface =
{
InvertZoomKey = 0,
InvertMouselook = 0,
BorderScrollSpeed = 1000,
BorderScroll = 1,
RMBScroll = 1,
AutoNorth = 0,
ExtendedTooltips = 1,
GameMode = 0,
SkipTutorial = 0,
}
Graphic =
{
AvoidExcessiveFrameBuffering = 0,
VSync = 1,
FlatShades = 1,
EffectLightmap = 1,
EnvironmentMapping = 1,
AdornMode = 3,
ObjectFadeDistance = 75,
ShadowType = 3,
TextureQuality = 4,
Filtering = 4,
ScreenResolution = 1,
ShowHitInfo = 3,
}

If it isn't visible once you open local files, I don't know what to do for you

The issue you are all having is that you are using a resolution higher than the one your monitor can support. Go to desktop -> (right click) screen resolution and see the recommended resolution. Then use that one from the game and edit the config file from Spellforce install folder as well, accordingly. May Jesus (God the Son) bless you all. He loves you dearly and if you repent, you will be forgiven and have a place in Heaven <3
