Now if you play 3 you'll have to defend the monument where the dark elves usually are in campaign but you can take of pressure if you take your non-resource buildings (or as many as possible) into the right area, this'll make space for towers. Some camps will go for the "outsider" while the mix of trolls and golems from the south likely go for the right part. If you play light spam arrow towers with occasional frostbringers for the trolls as the golems are immune to ice. It's pretty much a war of attrition, quite a few maps are like that I feel like. You eventually have a big enough army that nothing matters anymore. Building fodder troops that need resources you have a-plenty (Warders, uh.. Throwers? And stuff) can help buying time or helping defend early on.
I don't know what else to tell you, it's a relatively hard map and one of us stood behind with his army and defended while the other one stomped the enemy (Golems on the left first, then go down until it becomes a one-way road and you can curbstomp the masses together). You'll get your next skill level with 17 and then with 20, you likely don't have runes for those levels but you can get some nice gear and skills with 17 as it's quite a breakpoint in my experience, that should help.
For that one level I'd probably recommend Coop-16 Light, use the elves to build a massive towerquarter (alternate the lines between arrow and frost, start with a line of arrow towers as they have 1 range more than frostbringers) right in front of the fortress and it's easy cheese, especially with all your avatars. If there's a camp in front of the fortress, just take it down, there'll be enough enemies anyway.
That's all I can tell from my experience ^^ What skills are your avatars using? :D If one can summon minions, that's very helpful against the golems ^^ Good luck :D
Edit: Also if you didn't know it, you can have 2 titans per race if you build 2 of the same large headquarters, start producing a titan in one and then immediately start the upgrade in the other, after that you can produce a second titan - the first one (The "normal" one) will come out upgraded :D Costly, but worth it^^
Thanks for a long answer! I played the whole freeplay from 1 to 50 multiple times. However, this is the first time I play it with 2 friends instead of one and boi, let me tell you. The speed at which the enemies spawn and attack grow DRASTICALLY between 2 and 3 players on the same map.
I play ice/life mage (one of my fav combinations), so I dont die that frequently, but my friends do which sets them back with experience and we are basically stuck,
I could take my level 50 and just go with them on Hazimar and level them up, but then again my character wont level up xD
So yeah, the best option to me would be a custom map that helps you level up by killing units that have a ton of XP.
Funny thing - I remember there was a map like this! A huge horizontal line with weak enemies that gave you one level each. I just seen it like.... 10 years ago and cant seem to find it :<
Can't help with that exp map though :D Last time I used one my char got corrupted ^^
