Is the Steam version better than GOG?

I have most of the Spellforce series on GOG, minus Faith in Destiny, and the Gold is split in 2, but I have issues running some; the usual, resolution, crashing to desktop, etc. Since Complete is so cheap right now, I am considering rebuying it here on Steam. Be nice to have Faith in Destiny too.

Question is, has either Valve or the developer cleaned it up at all? Will it run properly on Windows 8.1 or will I run into the same problems I have with the GOG version?

Nope, same problems.

Have to put Spellforce.exe in WinXP compat mode, otherwise it doesn't save cd-key or resolution changes, run as admin otherwise it doesn't run for a second time...

Mine works flawless for some reason on win7.

Had some issues with me reading my code but once I sorted myself out, no issues on Windows 10 64bit.

You didn't have to play with compatibility settings? Gonna try it tonight :D

you have to only set to run as admin , not compatability mode ar you get crashes when trying to manualy save on modern windows
