Question about a paladin
Read that a paladin with a boons skill can buff strength for a higher DPS. If you put all those stat points into magic, you can't raise strength which would lower your damage. What good is a buffed "weak" strength?

Aura of Strength is actually from Life tree, but you will want to use it alongside Boons. Also this is hardly going to be "weak" strength. Sure, you might not have the max base strength, but the build relies on maxing out your Heavy Combat first, while you get White Magic only to 12-13. A lot of your stats come from items anyway and considering how much White Magic can boost your stats even on level 12-13 with enough required charisma ( and maybe some from items, too, if you have ones that give that and strength in the same time ), you will probably be stronger, if not as strong, but with a lot more utility.

Oh, I see what you mean. I made the mistake of starting with max strength and dexterity. When I gained a few levels my HC and WM were unable to raise. Had to put stat points into stamina and wisdom instead of strength and charisma. This is what threw me off.

Current stats:
Level 13
HC 6
Lg Blunt 6

WM 4
Life 4
Boons 4

Str 40/40
Stam 40/52
Dex 40/50
Agil 25/38
Int 25/43
Wis 39/47
Cha 43/43

Ability points: 2
Stat points: 1

With those stats you will probably have to sacrifice something, like White Magic. If you min-maxed without leveling dexterity, you could get a level 15 in White Magic. If you ignore dexterity from now on then you should get level 12 in White Magic with some 6 points left. Overall you should aim to have 112 Strength and Stamina by level 50, as well as 70 Wisdom and 60 Charisma. You will also have 4 skill points left, so you can dump 2 points into Light Combat, you will need 1 more Agility. Your main abilities are Aura of Fast Walking for running around and for fighting you have Fast Fighting, as well as Strength and Endurance.
Also the auras that increase your attributes actually add a percentage, which scales off of Charisma, you can get some crazy numbers later on.

From how you said all that, I must have made a mistake at the start and during. Had looked for a guide to create a paladin, but obviously didn't find one. Don't mind starting over (to do this right).

I'm retired (67) so have plenty of time :)

It also depends if you want to import your Paladin to the expansion or not.(lvl 30+)

You can still recover your stats points are not that bad but it is better to preplan your stats.
15 points in dex can be okay albeit it is better if done at high levels once core build is done.

I have a lvl 50 paladin but she was started on the 1.54 patch.

Many patches happened which nerfed thorns(fixed dmg,no longer benefits from STR) so esentally nature tree is almost useless for the Paladin.

Usually you can go HC 15 for the staff and even WM 20 or around WM 15 and HC 20 and your choice of sub tree for HC.eg.blunt.

LC 2 just for blessing and berserk is often good to just need 1 agi invested.

It is very likely that stat buffs are capped at 200% speed of any kind, with+speed items you can go above that cap.

Also it seems buffs can not more than double your current/geared stats eg.98 str to more than 196 str.So your added 15 dex can be 30 dex at high boon and charimsma levels likely increasing your dps as you miss much less than just adding 30 more str if you already have high STR but 25 base dex.

You can max 5 things to lvl 20 exactly at lvl 50.

Paladin and any other physical damage will struggle againts mummies who have high armor class and 80% physical damage reduction scalar.

But they are undead so boons anti undead spells are very useful againts them even at lvl 15 maybe even at lvl 12 better than your physical attacks at skill lvl 20.

As said above you need 112 str and stamina for HC 20 and your chosen blunt 20.
I think most blunt weapons deal extra damage to many undead types and to buildings but game does not any dmg scalars.

You gain 5 atribute points every lvl so you can do maths how much WM you want.

I recommend at least 13 boons so you can use eternety aura which last for 60 seconds and not 30.With fast walking+eternety you can often reach 200% MS speed to ease traveling time.

WM 12 needs 70W and 60C.
WM 15 needs 82W and 72C.
WM 20 needs 102W and 92C.

Note having 80 or more base/natural charisma reduces shop prices and increase your selling prices by 10%.

WM spells show base values 135 Charsima triples their stated value.
Eg 400 stated healing becomes 1200 +30% attack speed becomes+ 90% attack speed.

But formula is (character's_charisma+15)/50.

Not sure if low charisma(below 65) can drop the effect of spells to below stated base. amount.
