SpellForce Platinum Edition - Mod Support & Mod Tools Public Test
Hello,

SpellForce The Order of Dawn turned 18 and so we decided to give it some love by releasing additional mod tools, mod support and the original script sources.

For now to obtain this version you will need to switch to the public beta branch: publictest
The original script sources are part of this version but we also put them up on Github: https://github.com/THQNordic/SpellForceLUASources

GENERAL
- Implemented mod support
-- SpellForce supports mods placed in game directory, and mods installed through Steam Workshop. See ReadMe of the different tools in the .\modding folder and programs in respective folders.
-- Use Mod Launcher in modlauncher folder to select mods to load on game start.
-- Use Steam Workshop module within Mod Launcher to upload your mods to Steam Workshop - requires Steam account.
-- Use SF1_tool_fbx_io tool in modding folder to import/export 3D assets to/from game from/to 3D manipulation software.
-- Use SFCFF tool in modding folder to pack/unpack CFF database files using XML format, and to create CFF database files in format required by mod support (diff file).
-- Use tool_filepacker tool in modding folder to create PAK files required for working with mod launcher
-- Additionally, all game scripts can be found in their original form in .\modding\Original Scripts folder.
- Game will now recognize which mods were used when saving games, and will only allow loading those saves if exactly those mods are active.
-- This also affects the ability to import characters to the Phoenix campaign.

UI
- Improved spell tooltips for all spells. Spells now show actual values used by given level of the spell, such as damage and duration.
- Improved weapon tooltips. Now displays actual damage values done by an attack, and displays chance to apply an effect (if it has any).
- Added unit tooltips. Move mouse over the unit portrait to see its stats, weapon and spells.
- Added spell tooltips for spells in action bar.

SPELLS
- Fixed a bug where Mental Essence used incorrect value for its calming effect.
- Stone Rain now properly deals damage equal to that of Rock Bullet.
- Fixed a bug where White essence and White almightiness used incorrect values for healing. This healing now scales with charisma, similarly to other healing spells. Thorn shield damage caused by these spells and healing values have been changed

GENERAL
- Restriction on save files created with different mods than the currently active mods is lifted - instead, a warning appears when selecting such save file in the menu.
- Fixed a bug which caused loot to only show 5 items when 6 items were supposed to drop

MODDING
- SFCFF.exe: Certain bugged text entries in GameData.cff, which caused pack command to not work, are now fixed.
- SFCFF.exe: Added support for Russian and Polish text entries when packing and unpacking.
- tool_filepacker.exe: Fixed a bug which caused the application to require a key press to close correctly.

Hello, i have downloaded the files and i placed in spellforce directory in steam, then the menu modified... but it is not working... the spells are the same, the description is the same... What am i doing wrong? Show me where i find these tools... Help please!

Hello Devs,
A little feedback from my experience:

UI:
All white magic spells descriptions doesnt inform about charisma scaling and doesnt show scaled stats buff like aura of fast attacks show only base % not scaled with actual charisma.

Spells:
White Essence/Almightness dexterity and attack speed buff doesnt scale with charisma and as all white spells it should scale.

Elemental Essence/Almightness the global icon on target with effect doesnt appear as the damage is ticking also the visual effect on target doesnt appear, only at the begining but it looks like thornshield damage not fire/ice damage.

Befriend just looks like it doesnt work at all i dont know but enemies doesnt stop attacking me.

Mental Essence/Almightness same as above about befriend.

At the end it feels like to make spells like: elemental/Black/mental essences and almightness usefull there should be a balance fix like you did with white essence/almightness with fixing healing bug and incresing thornshield damage and healing effect. Damage from those spells are too low to be usefull compare to mana cost and other regular spells.

That's all for now: thank you for giving us those patches! Its a great update and modding site should be much better now! Keep it up!

Would be nice if spells essences and almightness dropped from enemies like normal spells,
so that could be used at higher levels especially at SOTP

Hello, first of all thank you for updating Spellforce 1 I love it,
I would simply like to report a bug when we hover the cursor over certain items with effect an error message appears:

I wanted to point out that my game is in French and that it may be the reason for the bug, one of my friends also has the problem.

I have noticed the same problem, but in my case it is:
Invalid token at position 13
Invalid token at position 84

It happens while the cursor is over some of Mental Magic (Offensive and Defensive) spells. Russian language if it is matter.

Also i want to say, sub-effects of Fire Shield and Ice Shield don't have their resist types. I mean you can freeze ice creatures in melee using Ice Shield, and Fire Shield can cause damage to fire creatures.
And something else: "fire elemental 12 lvl" pets are resistant to ice magic instead of fire magic. They apparently have the same stats as the "ice elemental 12" pets.

Hello, first of all I am really excited that you support spellforce 1 with updates - that's really amazing.

I want report an error which I get since using the 'publictest' version of the game. The game quits sporadically and that message occurs:

TERMINATION: Exception Caught

Code: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Info: The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access.
Flags: 0x000... etc.

------

If required I can also add the "cryptic rest" of the error message :)

edit: Someone told me on a different thread i made.

"1. Right click on "SpellForce Platinum Edition" in your game list/libery
2. Select "Betas"-Tab
3. select "1.54-classic"
4. wait for the update to go trough and play the classic bug free version."

All is good and well now. The world is whole again... Well. Not in SF... you know what i mean. ^^
