Killing own units

I was today years old when i learned that you actually CAN kill your own units the hotkey for this is "k" for those who have been wondering how to do that.

The game has a lot of these minor QoL features it doesn't really tell you about. Ctrl + Mousewheel allows you to rotate your builds; 3rd person cam allows faster walk speed, Shift + Right Click sets waypoints where your units attack things that are on the way etc. etc.

Playing this game since 2005 and never knew this with exception of fast walk. Thanks, just picked the game to replay this year and will use this. Other thing I noticed is that if a group of soldiers encircles an enemy and others soldiers cant get to enemy and there is no enemies near. They will start shouting and turn hands up

Right Click + H Spamming makes your units / avatar snap around the map-grid and allows for faster traveling.

actually a lot of these features are explaned if you go the "bonus-round" in the tutorial. So it isnt quite fair to say the game doesnt tell you this. It does. Its just easy to miss and i dont know another place to look it up then do the extra in the turotial (i mean i just wrote em down in a file to look em up).

also helpful orders:

Attackorder: ctrl + rightclick
patrol: alt + rightclick
follow: shift + rightclick on unit
hold: h
pick units of same time: ctrl + leftclick on unit

these and a couple more are all in the extended tutorial. ;-)

Oh god, that may be true. It's been.. what. A decade since I played that map. Maybe I just chose to forget about that lol

yeah. If i hadnt written the info in there down i would have probably forgotten all about it aswell. But actually i played the tutorial fairly recently so i know for sure (i didnt even remember where i got the info in that file from until i played the tutorial again). ^^

That being said: I have no idea how to play spellforce without the "hold-order".

All of these things are also mentioned in the manual for the game, so you can refer to that if you want it as a small "cheat sheet" :D The manual is in the folder of the Steam installation for the game

Del seems to also kill your units. I tried to rotate the map and found it out the hard way. I didn't save so I didn't feel like playing any further.
