SpellForce: Platinum Edition

SpellForce: Platinum Edition

ive never play spellforce and have questions
hi guys, im considering buying the whole series but have a few questions before i do.

1) i love rpgs like baldurs gate and divinity, is spell force like either of these or anything else i may have played?

2) what order do i play them in? (i see multiple spellforce 2 and it has me a little confused)

3) im a sucker for romance so is there any romance between the player character and npc/party members in the series?

4) is this a single story (one protagonist though all games) or multiple story's (new protagonist each game)

and lastly 5) how is the character creation and world interactions? (is there lots of classes and play-styles, do choices have meaning, etc)

thanks for any reply's guys

1) It's an RPG-RTS hybrid with focus on real time.

2) Chronologically, it goes like this: Spellforce 3 -> SF3 Soul Harvest -> SF3 Fallen God -> SF1 Order of Dawn -> SF1 Breath of Winter -> SF1 Shadow of the Phoenix -> SF2

3) Only Soul Harvest expansion for SF3 has some romance.

4) Spellforce 1 has two protagonists: the one in Order of Dawn and Breath of Winter. Once you finish the two campaigns, you can import the character from OoD or BoW into Shadow of the Phoenix campaign.

5) In Spellforce 1, you pick your gender, name, one of the faces, starting attributes and ability tree, you can mix ability trees as you level up. Choices rarely show up and when they do, they tend to just offer different rewards or let a character live.
The only Spellforce game where choices matter more is Spellforce 3: Fallen God, the choices there shape one of your companions and the ending of the game.

for me, sf2 was much too fast paced, i had no time to watch fights,
i was just spamming 'heal' on all buttons that wasnt on cool down,
and it wasnt until the fight had ended and i got the time to look up from the heal buttons that i could see who won the battle. i stick to sf1, period

let me tell you: SP1 is the best of the series.

Theres no way to slow the realtime combat down?

The game does not have anything like the RPG depth you seem to be looking for
It is essentially and RTS game with some RPG elements. Most of your time is spent in the RTS activities of raising armies and battling hordes of foes.

I use memory hacking software to simulate realtime-with-pause and give build and attack orders. Its the only way this old man can keep up with the gameplay.

I bought the first one for $2 to see if i wanted to spend $40 plus for the entire series. I hate real time games that keep you running around in circles, really cant enjoy the game. At least you found a way forward. Im not that computer literate so there are games like that I prefer not to buy. Too bad but it seems designers these days do something to ruin new games all the time. Thanks for the response. I guess I will enjoy the first one and pass on the rest.
