Does the Multiplayer via Internet work?
I remember problems in the past, searched the discussions, but did not find anything certain. Wanted to try it out with a friend, but before we invest our time, wanted to ask.

Thanks in advance!

If you are patient enough, you can try playing the PvP mode which I was succesful at running. It seems like the servers are working, but they are far from working properly. What do I mean?

If you are creating room, try to do it without leaving the lobby and joining, as this may cause the bug which makes your room not appear next time you create it.
When you are joining room then:
a) If it's a multiplayer mode, there is a chance you will join. It doesn't work at the first time, but continuously trying to join room made by friend will at some point let you in. After that, be careful with choosing premade character as this can also freeze the game. If at this point everything went correctly, you can actually start the game and it should run good enough.
b) If it's a free play multiplayer mode, then unfortunatly it's very unlikely to you to join. You will see room if created, but I don't know why, it's actually much harder if not impossible to join. You can endleslly click the join button and nothing can happen.

I've tried different other methods to play Spellforce with my friend. Gameranger (It doesn't recognize Steam version of the game), Evolve (this program died unfortunatly), Hamachi (good luck making it work with yellow, red or green dots or exclamation mark symbol)

The one program that worked for us was ZeroTier.
It can look scary, but it's actually very easy to set up. One person needs to create account and create a network. All of you need to download ZeroTier. After successful installation look for the ZeroTier icon on the bottom right corner of the screen, near time and date where other running programs are shown.
Click "Open control panel"
Look for the network id that you made and paste it there. Click Join Network
Now go back to your network settings. Open it. Find Members tab and you should see adresses that tried to join, so at least one adress which is yours. You have to check the little box to actually give yourself (and other people you want) access to your network.

This is it. Now everything should work. All you have to do is enter Free Game and click LAN.

Hope it helps you.

the servers sort of work on 1.61 but have some little issues with latency, i do recommend the lan mode via a VPN of your choice.

Ok thank you 😃
I will try it out. No idea whether I can get the mentioned app to work, but I will try eventually.
Shame it does not work out of the box without annoying trouble shooting 🙄

ZeroTier can work, tired it out myself once so I hope it works for you as well. If you can't get it to work, I would also recommend a VPN called "Radmin". Some SF1/2 fan tournaments used it recently and it worked fairly well, so it's definitely another viable option.

I also find it easier to set up than ZeroTier, but both should work in the end.

ZeroTier worked like a charm :winter2019coolyul:

Only strange thing was the char names being renamed in the first letter of their name, but oh well :winter2019joyfultearsyul:

This can happen. Try to avoid it by carefully looking at character names when you are with your friend in a lobby. If any of you have just the first letter instead of full character name, just go back to main menu, select your correct character and try again. You should avoid playing this glitched characters because this will actually make them as separate entities, making you loss your progress unless you will stick now to this new character.

We didn't notice it until it was too late. As we have too little time, we decided to play with I and B. Very weird indeed.
