Are these spells not working on undead, or am I so lucky that they don't hit?

Pestilence has a lvl cap + undead tend to have more black magic resistance than other races.

pestilence works roughly on enemies half your spell level,
and then as you level up it becomes slowly more useful until you at spell lv 20 can pestilate
lv 45 monsters , same threshold as hypnotize and feet of clay
