Game won't launch. Borked?

I installed and played the game yesterday using the quick launch in the start menu. It went right into the game and I played for a few hours before saving and closing the game and heading to bed. Today I go to launch the game. It's no longer in my start menu. So I look into Steam. It says it's still running. (In fact, I now have 19 hours played. Honest, I wasn't on it -that- long.) Clicking stop doesn't work. I finally crash out the game manually in task manager. Now I can click start. I get the usual message that it's preparing to launch the game, then nothing. Steam says it's running, but nothing 's happening. Again, clicking stop does nothing. So I open task manager again to force stop the game. I've tried validating the game files and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as removing the SpellForce folder from My Documents. After rebooting my comp, the game did launch long enough to go to a screen to install Game Spy. Um, no. I've never bothered with that, so I canceled it, expecting it to move on as normal (though wondering why that poped up now and not before). It didn't move on. It poofed. Again, it said it was running, again nothing in taskbar. Can't slick stop and had to force close game from task manager. I'm getting the same thing every time. Although now when closing the game via task manager, I get an error saying something along the lines of "Could not terminate process, invalid handle. Any thoughts? I've run out of ideas to make this game work.
On Windows 7 btw.

I have the same Probleme did you fixed it by now ?

Oddly enough, I was able to launch Spellforce 2 and play it, then close it (borked that one for a bit too) then 1 appeared in the start menu, launched there, closed it, then was able to launch 1 in steam. So far, now both are working... but really does seem to be a pretty dumb mess and one of those "click launch then pat your head and rub your tummy while closing your right eye and tapping your left big toe to get it to work"
In all serious though, I suspect there was a conflict, likely between those two games. Some shared file not wanting to play nice, or some hold over not clearing from the ram.. or a mix of the two. Sorry that I don't have any real answer for you.
