I kind of agree. I think the reason is that the art and audio were handled by a different team of artists. Even though it’s named 'Painkiller,' it feels more like the concept was just borrowed.

Looks like Doom Eternal, in fact if you squint your eyes it is doom eternal. Yeah it looks quite technically sound but the product looks trend following and generic.

Unfortunately it’s not being developed by Saber, as some people are assuming, but Anshar Studios that says they "specialize in narrative RPG games" on their site. Doesn’t seem a great fit for a Painkiller game. Also, it’s a reboot, not a remake.
