Gothic 3 and Windows 8

I recently upgraded from windows 7 to 8. When i had Gothic 3 installed on windows 7 it worked fine but when i installed it on windows 8 it runs but it lags like hell, i already installed the community patch 1.75 and it still has the lag i also run it on compatibility mode with windows xp service pack 3. Is there anything else i could try?
