Stuck in Montera
Hey all,

I'm only 6 reputation points away from being able to enter the castle in Montera, but I can't get any more quests. I know for a fact that Marik, the orc mercenary boss, has some more quests but he doesn't want to talk to me. Is there anything that can be done about that?

Do you have any incomplete Montera quests in quest log? I think there might be a couple of quests that need to be completed outsided of the city and need to be completed before Marik gives you another.

Also, you didn't do anything to piss him off did you?

Well... I have been doing a bit of work for the rebels. Notably, I killed the 4 slave camp guards and killed that lone mercenary outside of town. I've also been stealing a lot of stuff. I had to bribe someone about it too. Would really keep him from talking to me?

Unless you stole from him and/or beat him up, he should still talk to you again at some point.

Did you complete his quest to make sure his men are loyal to him? He won't speak to you again until that is completed. If the lone merc you killed was one of the guys you need to talk to you could failed that quest. But I think you would get a messge saying quest failed if he was vital to quest.

Sanford also has a fiew things for you to do. Have you completed his quests yet?

You have to make sure to talk to everyone in the city and on the farm outside?

Quests from orcs in town?

Do you know that can filter quests by town in the quest log? Click on town icon on the map to see all the quests you are currently doing or have completed for that location. There's always one that gets buried in the jumble if you are viewing all the quests at once.

Yeah, I used the filter and it says I have no current quests. I'm also pretty sure that I've stolen some things from his cabin. But that also gives me an idea. I know there's a spell that will make people forget about your crimes, so maybe I can find that and use it on him.

Besides that I've been running around the whole town clicking on everyone and none of them want to talk. I've also done the quests on the outlying farm and stockyard.

Have you moved the slaves around? Done all of the arena quests? Stolen a couple of quest items in town and gone through the dialogue? Did you collect the rent from Domenik? I think that one has a 3 day timer. Did you tell the lazy guard to get back to duty? Montera's easy to get 100 reputation in.

Oops. You're not supposed to kill the mercenary outside of town. You're supposed to beat him up and then convince him to go back to work, and then report to Marik. Marik might be mad at you for killing one of his men. Is his name Orange and not Green?

His name is actually white. Is there anything I can do for him to be un-mad at me? I used a spell on him that supposed to make people forget about your crimes.

You could try to hack him a little bit in the console, but there are other quests you can do in case you mess one up.

There's clearing out the wolf cave, exchanging slaves for Bradley, Bradley's list, all of the arena fights and finding that quest item near the arena...

The problem is that I've pretty much everything there is to do. I did the slave exchange for Bradley already too. How exactly can I "hack him a little"?

In Gothic II, the console command was SET PERMATTITUDE FRIENDLY or SETTEMPATTITUDE FRIENDLY but I don't remember if this works in Gothic 3...

If this doesn't work you can try the faction helper NPC. I've never used it before. Instructions are here:

I took his list but neither Bradley or Marik want to talk about it. But I will definitely try out the faction helper. I hope it can increase my reputation with towns as well as factions.
