Gothic controller support?

Neither of the games have controller support, but you can use software like Key2Joy and Xpadder to map the buttons to a controller.

Key2Joy effed up my xbox controller because it overwrite the driver and messed something up on it (although after a week of tinkering I was able to fix it with a nice swift driver uninstall and reinstall) lol. I have payed Pinnacle Game Profiler, but I kind of try to avoid ever needing to use it since most profiles don't show you the mapping before you download them and too many of those programs want you to make your own mapping, and when I did use PGP it just didn't feel right compared to native controller.

But then I've seen somewhere in a review that Risen is better than Arcania, and Risen is one of the worst games I've ever seen lol so... Eh.

I think Risen's Very Positive user rating based on 1502 reviews should tell you whether the game is good or bad.
It all comes down to personal preference, and negative people tend to be louder.
