Gothic 3

Please help, Gothic 3 camera inertia is making me queasy is there a way to disable it?
Hi everyone,

I love Gothic 3, its an amazing game from what I have played so far (a few hours), however every time I play the camera makes me nauseous because of the inertia. If you dont know what I mean let me try to describe it.

When you move, and then stop, the camera continues to move for a big longer before stopping, also when standing still the camera will slowly sway back and forth, this makes me motion sick.

I fiddled with all possible settings in the menus, I know its not lag since the game is solid 60 FPS the entire time, from what I can tell its by design. is there a way to disable it and make the camera rigid? If not by normal means through some sort of hack perhaps?

id really love to play through Gothic 3 but at this rate I cant, otherwise ill be throwing up all over.

PS - if people are still not sure what Im talking about Ill record a video. Just let me know.

I know what you're talking about. Install community patch 1.75. It lets you justify the cameras inertia. http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/threads/1140053-Gothic-3-Patch-1-75-release

Go to Options/Controls and set the sliders for X and Y axis decelerators all the way down.

Installed the patch, dont see any camera options anywhere in the options. How do I do it?

Turning down Y and X axis smoothing does make it better when turning camera with the mouse. But when standing still the camera still does sway back and forth (when you dont touch any controls at all).

There're just those sliders Ocsabat mentioned. I'm not even sure if they came with the community patch, tbh, but since Gothic 3 was released in a bad state, you needed that patch anyway. If you play in 1st person view (which I believe you do), the camera will follow the characters movements--even if he's just crossing arms. =/

Oh man, i cant believe they didnt fix it through some hack or patch or mod or something... here I made a video check it out Im just standing there and the camera moves on its own... look at bottom left/top left corners - https://youtu.be/hzggN9AhDfc

I guess Ill never get to play this game :(
Oh, right.. Of course the guys movements also affect the cam in 3rd person view, but it's even worse in 1st person view. It didn't bother me that much, however I could easily pass on a cam that follows nodding heads. You'd be missing out on a good game.. Stay in constant movement? ;)

Yea im hoping for some sort of hack or something, maybe modifying something somewhere to make it not move at all unless I move

Open Ge3.ini found in ...
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Gothic 3\Ini

Look for section ... "3rd person/1st person cam", for the following entries

fRelaxCamera=0.05
fRelaxPlayer=1.0

The values above stopped the bobbing and weaving and made the PC remain static while idle when I was testing this. The game won't load if you set the values to 0.

I didn't bother changing any other values so I don't know what effect those other settings might have.

Good luck.

P.S. DOn't forget to make a bckup copy of Ge3.ini.

I made those changes, but it didnt seem to make a difference... still swaying when standing still
This worked for me:

fRelaxCamera=20.0
fRelaxPlayer=20.0
fRelaxYAxis=15.0
fRelaxXAxis=8.0
fRelaxDist=60.0
fRelaxFOV=40.0
fMaxDistToPlayer=255.0f

The cam still moves when he's snoozing, though. ;)

I just noticed, with the settings I posted earlier, it works when weapon is drawn and after weapon is sheathed. After weapon is sheathed PC nor camera will move until I move the mouse or arrow keys.

It just happened that the save I used starts with weapon out.

Yea while its better the camera still moves with those ini fixes... is there any way to like make some sort of hack.. people that made the unofficial patches, is there a way to make a patch to make camera stiff?

The unofficial patch is no hack, the Community Patch Team have got the source code from the publisher.

Is there any way someone can release a patch to make camera static? I frankly cant believe that wasnt an option in the first ever patch, seems like a HUGE issue with the game,

Try this http://fgex.ru/files/Gothic_3_EE_v1.75_Int_Update_Pack_v1.03.13.exe
its an update for CP 1.75 (you must have the latter installed of course), I believe it solves the camera problem.
