Gothic 3 Blackscreen

Hi. I bought this game 1 hour ago.
It works pretty well but there is a problem. If i tab out of the game, and tab back, i get a blackscreen. I hear the music, and the game is still running, but i only see black. Help me please. (sorry for my bad english)

That's not only on your side. Happens for me too.
It's because the game's engine is crap and the game can't handle tabbing out.

You shouldn't do it.

Have you installed the 1.75 Community Patch?

If not, install it manually, or install via Steam Beta Branch.

For Beta Branch install... Right click Gothic 3 in Library, select Properties, Beta tab, then from dropdown select 1.75 Beta Branch then reinstall the game. Disregard anything else on that screen. No code necessary.

Well, I have the 1.75 CP and I get the same error, when I tabbed out accidentally.
Guess there's no way to fix it at the moment.

This has nothing to do with a patch.
The game is old, get over it people. It's not made for tabbing out.

I found a soluten. Just press ESC and then alt tab :)

It's not the age of the game that is the problem because alt-tab works for me. I used to have this problem but not sure exactly what I did to fix it. But I believe it probably something to do with graphics or drivers.

Try making graphics adjustments using the 3d application profile feature in the GPU Control Panel. I fifnd that this fixes some graphics issues and helps with performance. AMD and Nvidia both have this feature in their GPU CP.

You need to have Vertical Sync activated and it works.

The only way that I have found to circumvent this is to run the game in windowed mode (look up how to do that on the pcgamingwiki page), then use an application such as BorderlessGaming (available here on Steam) to force borderless windowed mode.

With the v-sync on (which you should enable anyway since the game is easy to run at 60+ fps), I have experienced zero crashes/black screens thus far.
